This Is the End : Where was God?
Re: Where was God?
I agree. I think it might have added some fun to it. But then, who to play the part since the movie was all about Hollywood actors playing themselves?

Morgan Freeman, naturally.
Re: Where was God?
Satan is not God's analogue. Satan is just another fallen angel. God has no "evil counterpart" in the traditional Judeo-Christian paradigm.
If I agreed with you, we would both be wrong!

Re: Where was God?
Exactly satan is GODS fallen angel. So unless the end of times involves satan coming to earth and god being an omnipresent force rather than an actual personification I was wondering where the representation of god was in this is the end? However the more I'm reading and learning about the bible it would make sense that the "spirit" of the lord would act as an unstoppable yet physically unseen force.

Re: Where was God?
God was omnipresent and absent.

Re: Where was God?
I agree as well. God was there, but not personified as a singular being as Satan was, because God is omnipresent.
I saw God in the beams taking the souls up to heaven. I saw God in the beams taking the re-deemed souls from the apocalyptic world to Heaven when they sacrificed themselves for their friends (talking about the actors we saw in the movie, but I'm sure there were others who "made the cut" so to speak around the world as the guys at Franco's house finally figured out.)
This movie is great, and more than a thought provoker. I'm a Christian, and it did not offend me. On the contrary, it gave me hope; someone had the balls to make a movie about the end of the world as the Bible see's it (some would say, at least)- the movie shows, through much humor, that love is the way to heaven.
That's a message that needs to be spread; love your neighbor, love your brother, like you love or used to love yourself.

Re: Where was God?
If you think this movie is anything other than a mockery of your ridiculous belief system then you weren't paying attention. Love your neighbor or face an eternity of burning in hell is a message that needs to be spread? Christian Mythology is a message that needs to be cast into the waste basket of human history, not spread
Re: Where was God?
How exactly can you say you're a Christian and then say that this movie portrayed anything accurately? You say that the movie shows that love is the way to heaven. Um. what about JESUS CHRIST? You know, the centerpoint of the entire religion!
Re: Where was God?
You are concerned because this fictional film does not represent a being that May or may not exist the way you envision that being to exist? There's a couple billion people on the planet that all have their own unique idea of a higher power. Maybe God is a blue light that sucks you up to heaven. This is a stupid thing to have an issue with, equal screen time with the devil.
Re: Where was God?
What is this "god" you speak of?
Re: Where was God?
My guess is, he was doing soundcheck with the Backstreet Boys.

Re: Where was God?
Well, God gave the Devil earth as his domain so He doesn't really make any appearances here. We have to wait for our deaths to see Him. If we choose to do so that is.

Re: Where was God?
It was certainly the cleverest pro-Christian film made in quite a while. Well done them.

Re: Where was God?
You might figure it out, possibly less verbally. Sometimes I think language is a bane on society, but indoctrines are the scourge of the planet. Watch the news, religion is the so called Man's excuse to be in a gang. If you live long enough, you see it happen again and again.
I've personally had enough of hearing the same thing for centuries and centuries.

Re: Where was God?
It's funny you talk about regurgitated, parroting responses because this is the 3rd thread on this board that I've seen that you've copied and pasted this EXACT response verbatim. Ha ha.
Re: Where was God?
The god was naturally in India because that is the one true god
Re: Where was God?
Where was God?
Same place he's always beenin the imaginations of the deluded.

That wasn't actually the devil.it was the anti christ.

Re: Where was God?
god is nowhere to be found in the movie so I guess its just like real life. He doesn't exist
Re: Where was God?
Since I think the movie went on or presented the movie as a Pre-Tribulation Rapture movie, then I guess God don't need to appear
I forgot but he comes after some millenial years or whatever is next to the Rapture according to the Pre Trib belief.
"Haha!" - Nelson Muntz pointing at you. :)

Re: Where was God?
True.
Most people think that the events presented in the final scenes are the end of the Bible, but there is more to follow, for example

There's no place for truth on the internet!
Re: Where was God?
How exactly do you know The Devil was shown? We see several demons, but none of them are ever referred to by name.

Re: Where was God?
To me that wasn't Satan or the devil or beezulbub or whatever but just another demon it angel or whatever
Re: Where was God?
The devil was never shown in the movie, those were demons, especially at the end. As for God, the movie probably didn't feel the need to show Him since they were already in Heaven. *The demon at the end of the movie is also shown as a figurine in the beginning of the movie when Jay gets to Seths house & starts watching tv.
Re: Where was God?
Where was God?
In the den with his Son watching sports and getting drunk like He always is.
God's old lady the Goddess came in from Her garden, saw the mess and decided to do some housecleaning. God staggered in at thee last moment and did a crappy job of saving a few of His 'favored' people and stashing them in the garage. It's an open question whether the Goddess tosses the lot of them in the holy dumpster when God crashes.
Re: Where was God?
I was mostly wondering which god. This movie looked like greek mythology come to life not christian mythology.
