Last of the Summer Wine : Anyone seen every episode?

Anyone seen every episode?

Personally I haven't use to watch it every Sunday as a kid was mid way when Foggy had returned. As I got older lost interest and never really caught up with it again. Have seen odd episodes with the other 3rd man but always though Foggy was the best one.

Re: Anyone seen every episode?

Wasn't that show on for like 40 years or something? People die in that amount of time. I would be really shocked if someone saw every episode. Life happens; circumstances change, etc. That would be some mean feat if someone did in fact see all episodes. I'd be impressed.

Re: Anyone seen every episode?

Yep. My earliest recollection was the 'Loxley Lozenge' episode from the mid 80s, though it was the early 90s (when Foggy returned) when I became a regular viewer. Foggy was also my favourite. The episodes I missed, I later caught up with on DVD. It felt like a different show when it ended.

Re: Anyone seen every episode?

No. I haven't seen many of the episodes since Compo died. i didn't think it was the same without him. and really I thought enough was enough.

Re: Anyone seen every episode?

I started watching when I was 13 but have seen every episode from repeats. As much as I love the show, they had to end it eventually. Too many of the cast have died, or are too old/ill to work.

Re: Anyone seen every episode?

I have seen every episode at least twice now and most of them at least 3 and 5 and more times.

First started watching the series in 1986 and came back to it in repeats on PBS on and off over the next 25 years.

In the last four years I have had it on in full rotation on PBS thru OETA where it enjoys a very good following. We did have it on during the final two seasons here and were sad to see it end but, that was probably due more to the aging of the showrunners than the actors since they could be rotated in and out and replaced with other character actors as needed over time.

You don't need to be from Yorkshire to 'get it' and you hardly need to be a brit, either.

I'm not obsessed with the show, it just comes on at a time when I can set the timer and fall to sleep with it as I end my workaday. It being the best thing on and it's easy going nature makes it a natural for late-nite viewing. I recommend it for anyone wanting to wind down their day with mindless, brainless serio-comedy that will bring a smile and giggle every now and then.

The best thing about this show is it's way of utilizing a wide range of friends who have known each other since childhood and have lived in or retired to the community of their youth. Everyone should be able to do that.

Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.
be kind, rewind...

Re: Anyone seen every episode?

Most seasons only ran 6-10 episodes... If you did 1 episode a day you could get through the whole series (295 eps) in ~9½ months.

Re: Anyone seen every episode?

I am currently purchasing the complete series on DVD. My local PBS station has been airing the majority of the episodes. I've been keeping track for four years and it seems PBS is airing all but specials and Christmas episodes. I did find that the words to opening song played twice during series instead of just Compo's funeral. Love the show.
