I signed and would urge EVERYONE to boycott these boards until the message boards are reinstated. My best friend sadly works for this site, and she said if it doesn't make money then it is dropped!! BOYCOTT!!!

Unfortunately IMDB won't change the mind. It's been made up. They will eventually realise their mistake when traffic to the site starts to get less and less.
The boards is what made IMDB, its defining feature. Without them it will just be a site like others. Nothing will stand out.
It's the reason many became fans and members. Removing the defining feature without consulting the fans first will cost them.
So eventually IMDB will lose traffic and they have to restore it back. But by then there probably will be a new site with message boards and IMDB will just be a memory.

Eh, as much as it sucks that IMDb shut down its message boards, they had a ****ty verification system you needed to go through in order to use them, so I don't really feel much of a loss.

That came after 2005…if you already had an account before then, you didn't have to go thru the verification system…unless you wanted to verify the account you had but it wasn't required.
The reason they did that was to help reduce the amount of trolling going on…that didn't really help much though.

I never went there…was it bad?
I was mostly on Film General and the American Idol board.
I heard that the Soapbox and Politics board were the most trolled…but Film General got a lot of trolling as well.
