Lone Survivor : This should have been a mini series like Band of Brothers (spoilers)

This should have been a mini series like Band of Brothers (spoilers)

Just re-read the book for the umpteenth time, but for the first time since I saw the movie. There is just so much more to this story that needs to be told.
There could easily be a miniseries like Band of Brothers and/or The Pacific on Luttrell, Murphy, Dietz and Axelson's story. In the process they could give more time to develop the other characters like Shane Patton, Dan Healy, Erik Christensen, and James Suh.

It could begin w Marcus as a child going through the training w Billy Shelton alongside his brother and leading up to him joining the Navy.
Part two: Marcus beginning BUDS through hellweek.
Part three: end of BUDS and beginning of sniper training. There needs to be a scene similar to the one in Clear and Present Danger in which the sniper is concealed on the range with spotters looking for him, and it is the sniper's job to maneuver close enough to the target to make the shot, and evade the spotters in the process.
Part four: deployment to Afghanistan and a few missions leading up to Red Wings. Sub-characters mentioned before will be developed.
Part five: operation Red Wings begins, the 4-man team patrols from the drop site through the mountains and arrives at the OP to be discovered by the goat heards.
Part six: The dilemma about what to do w the goat herds, letting them go, the battle ensues, leading up to the first fall down the mountain.
Part seven: Primarily focuses on the firefight, leading up to Murphy's Rock, the helo crash, Dietz and Axe meet their fates, Marcus is left to fend for himself.
Part seven: A paralyzed Marcus drags himself over 7 miles through the Afghanistan mountains while continuing to engage the enemy, meets Gulab and is ultimately taken in by the Pashtun village.
Part eight: Marcus is helped by Gulab and the village, the elder travels overland to the US base, Marcus comes face to face with Shah, and finally is rescued by the Rangers and USAF PJs. Marcus returns home to a hero's welcome and begins working on asylum for Gulab. His work with veterans and the creation of the Lone Survivor foundation, etc would be spotlighted, leading up to Marcus in the present.

They could possibly spread the firefight over three episodes and push this out to a 10-part series, but 7 or 8 should be sufficient. The main point here is there is much to this story that either still needs to be told, or told with better accuracy, especially after the main firefight ended.

I'm the guy who does his job. You must be the other guy!

Band of Brothers takes place over the course of all or most of World War II. This was one op over several days.
