Romance : One of them is rich, the other poor, and they fall in love…

One of them is rich, the other poor, and they fall in love…

But why does it always seem that the girl/woman is uptight, constrained, somehow not a lot of fun, and it takes the boy/man to loosen her up? If the girl is rich and the boy is poor, she's in a gilded cage and he's a free spirit. If the boy is rich and the girl is poor, he's self-assured, often to the point of arrogance, and she's too preoccupied with work or school to have fun. Or are there exceptions to this, and I just haven't seen or heard of them?

You probably haven't heard of them because poor women are always taking advantage of rich men. How's that for love?

Watch Bringing Up Baby (1938)

He is poor and uptight and she is very rich and carefree. Rather crazy actually. Also various other films with Katharine Hepburn. She played a lot of kooky rich women who fell for poor, straight laced fellows.

The O.P. was asking about movies where the guy is rich and the girl is poor.

Also:
Harold and Maude (1971) - Harold is very rich, Maude is rather poor. Maude is the epitome of a free spirit and loosens up Harold big time.

I Love You, Alice B. Toklas! (1968) - well off lawyer and hippie girl.
