Invasion of the Body Snatchers : Similarities with "Shaun of the Dead"

Similarities with "Shaun of the Dead"

Just watched this for the first time tonight and noticed a couple of similarities with Edgar Wright's Shaun of the Dead. I've seen that movie dozens of times so it's not hard to spot things like the following:

- this one is loose but when Goldblum runs off to distract the pod people it reminded me of Shaun distracting the zombies in front of the car. Also Goldblum's wife runs after him which was kind of like Diane going after her boyfriend after he is pulled out the window of the bar.

- Thry attempt to blend in with the pod people by acting like them. Same as acting like zombies.

- the scene with Sutherland and Brook in the bushes right before she turns reminds me of Shaun and Ed's last scene before Ed dies.

I imagine Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg grew up watching this so I wouldn't be surprised if these were accidental or purposeful homages.

I was thinking there was a similarity with that as well. I've got Shaun of the Dead on DVD.

Jack: "Hey pods! Come and get me, you scum!"

Shaun: "Come and get it! It's a running buffet! All you can eat!"

Re: Similarities with "Shaun of the Dead"

Blending in with the pod people by acting like them if you did it just right WOULD work because they looked so human but the zombies were rotting and stinking and THAT cannot be faked.
