Days of Heaven : Wondrous Film-making.

Wondrous Film-making.

Quite an extraordinary achievement in film-making this truly is; Days of Heaven contains some of the more beautiful images I've seen in a motion picture. The imagery, coupled with the ever-reliable Morricone's terrific score make for an experience quite unlike any other, a sort of mystic landscape- very poetic. It could probably be viewed with just the score and no dialogue and be just as impactful. The film makes use of its resplendent setting so magically, the variety of shots have the effect of sweeping you up in the environment rather than just being a bystander to the events happening on-screen. Some particularly haunting images- the smoke-filled fields and the shadows of the horses towards the end, and the afternoon sunlight passing through the fields.

Yes, i agree with you completely on this. For me this is cinema at it's purest, the perfect blend of image and sound. It's probably the best film i have ever seen.
