Tourist Trap : Great film or load of junk?

Re: Great film or load of junk?

Great movie definitely! 70's and early 80's horror movies are the best. I love the raw, dark, colors of the films. They may seem cheap looking but to me that's what makes them scarier I'm sorry if I'm not explaining myself correctly but it's hard for me to put it into words. Anyway, this movie was a pleasant (and scary) surprise. The first time I saw it was on cinemax years ago. For some reason it was always on cinemax at like 6:00am. Weird. But it scared the crap out of me then.

Re: Great film or load of junk?

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I love the surreal quality, the beautiful score, the colors/scenery (the long shot of Molly running through the woods with the mist and eerie blue lighting is one of the most gorgeous shots ever put on film), and just the overall insane quality of the film that spirals further and further into a nightmare.

My favorite parts of the movie are the scenes in the house with "Plasterface" pursuing his victims, when we get to see all the creepy mannequins placed through the hallways off the house. It's really disturbing.

A great, great little cult film.

Re: Great film or load of junk?

I liked the film. I thought the music, atmosphere and acting were all really good and made it creepy. I wish it had been rated R and had a little more violence. Sounds sick, but I thought it was a little tame. Still, I liked it.

I remember seeing this when I was a kid. I enjoyed it.

It's a great movie. Creepy, weird, and well worth a watch.

Re: Great film or load of junk?

The first time I saw it (back in the early 80's), the opening scared holy h*ll
out of me; but that's because I thought the mannequins were moving under their
own power. After I saw Slausen's telekinesis was making them move, it wasn't
quite so bad. There were still enough frightening moments for me, though, and
I really hated what Slausen did to that poor girl. All the same, it was an
interesting story, and I wouldn't mind renting the dvd sometime.

Re: Great film or load of junk?

Tourist Trap is a great weird and creepy B movie. I love it!

Re: Great film or load of junk?

Not great, not a load of junk.
I think it's creepy but not scary at all. Some of the weirdest stuff I've seen in a slasher!

It's good for a Sunday night.

Great horror film.

Re: Great film or load of junk?

It's certainly not a "great film," but there are some (very) good scare sequences in it, some good visuals and I personally like the score by Pino Donaggio very much (in fact I would say it's among his best scores). Considering some of the horror movies that were being turned out around this time and a bit later (not to mention now) you could do worse than spending an hour and a half with this movie.

Re: Great film or load of junk?

I just watched it tonight, and liked it alot <3 It's honestly pretty creepy.

Re: Great film or load of junk?

Great film with some flaws. Can't help but love Connors in this.
