Now Playing and Upcoming Films : Foreign films playing

Foreign films playing

I live In Sydney. From my recollection it was much easier to view a foreign subtitled film 10 years ago than it is today.

My inner city independent cinemas have become more mainstream to maintain profitable, screening Star Wars and animated kids films. Films built around a character's hardship in being gay have squeezed out anything from Europe at the non multiplex cinemas. I would be better served by cable TV, but they are slower on the release.

Is it the same situation in the US and UK?

My local area doesn't have anything but the multiplex cinemas. The others died out when the big cinemas took over. I use Amazon Prime videos, Netflix, and individual sites such as PBS, Masterpiece, YouTube to get my independent & foreign fix. Yes, slower on the release, but..

Guess I'll have to relent and get an online subscription. More movies, less driving.
