I completely agree! Gaspard will always be my perfect Edward! Rob isn't a bad actor or anything, he just did not look like the way I imaged Edward to look. I am still remaining hopeful about the movie though.

I'm a fan of Gaspard Ulliel, but I don't thikn that he would be a great Edward. I actually think Robert is perfect, yes Gaspard is VERY good loking but for some reason, I think Robert Pattinson would be better.

Gaspard is totally hot and gorgeous BUT he doesn't look like how Edward is described in the books. Edward is described as kind of lanky (but still muscular) and Gaspard isn't lanky-he's built. and Edward has untidy BRONZE colored hair which Robert has. And Gaspard is totally hot but Robert has that weird look about him that makes him perfect to play a vampire. He's sexy and has those amazing cheekbones that just scream out VAMPIRE!! lol

Ohhhh I LOVE the idea of Gaspard Ulliel playing Edward! He's gorgeous, charming, and he has a certain mysterious thing about him that makes it even better. Gaspard can put on that adorable crooked smile - a trademark of Edward's, and he would make the perfect vampie :D Don't get me wrong, Robert's going to be okay and maybe he'll surprise us, but I think Gaspie would've been better. And also, I loved the idea of Emily Browning as Bella. Too bad that didn't happen! I think Kristen needs a softer look to her - she appears to be rough and tough in a sort of way.

he did not have a french accent when acting in that movie.
it was like lithianian or something.

I saw a picture of Gaspard with "My Edward" texts on the picture.
I fell in love then and said he would've been so much better.

My Verdict::
1) I don't understand how people can be attracted to Robert as Edward. No. Just no.
2) The movie will most likely be disappointing b/c:
A) We've all read the book and built up the characters in our minds.
B) And we all have different views.
C) And I guess Hollywood thinks that sticking to the scenes we already love is bad? So they're going to make it a dark vampire movie and alter it to suite themselves and they're special effects.
D) They're not so much giving us our favorite book brought to live as they are selling us a popular title.
3) And, as much as I'd have loved him for Edward, Gaspard wouldn't accept the script because drinking blood in two American movies leads to type-casting.

Okay, Robert isn't bad or anything, I really liked him in Harry Potter. But Gaspard just has something about him that screams Edward. He's Got that slim, yeat muscular boyish figure that Stephenie was talking about.
But that's just me, I would have though him better. But, nothing we can do know I guess. He'll always be my Edward though. =)

I do like Rob as Edward, he is a good actor, and I'm sure he will portray Edward well. However, he is not my Edward. I screamed when I found out Rob was playing Edward because I already had mine. Gaspard is the closest living thing to my Edward. I was really hoping it was him I'm over it, I guess. Rob is movie Edward. Gaspard is my imaginations Edward.

He seems a little femme and grizzly at the same timeand too old! He looks 30 to me and I never pictured Bella falling for a guy like him(even SM didnt favor him). Im sure he's a great actor and stuff and will pull it off but I'm not going to go with the flow and the "Robsession" just cause everyone else is and its safe. He's really not the "one and only edward". But i'll still see the movie! I believe in him as an actor =)

you must remember thada0t Gaspard's english isnt 100% and Edward or Robert werent french. So unless he went under a speech coach, he wouldnt make it.

He is absolutely gorgeous, he's pale, he has that side smile, and who cares if he has a french accent that would make him 10 times hotter then he already is which should be impossible. but whatever i guess robert is edward but like others have said gaspard will always be my edward cullen

I don't get the fuss. Sure, twilight isn't the best movie i ever saw, but it was pretty darn good, and some parts were really well acted. I liked edward cullen, i really liked the humor. (i do love Gaspard, but he should just have his own vampire movie anyway, where he can speak french, that would be even better.)

gaspard is definitely beyond GORGEOUS but he doesnt have the vampire look to him. rob isn't as hot but he has that vampire-y look to him which makes him better for the part of edward. but gaspard is definitely much more swoon-worthy than rob

Well I have not read the books but ive heard a lot about them and on who should play Edward Cullen on a lot of young actors boards. When I finally research the name and read the descriptions of him on wikipedia the first person that came to mind was Gaspard Ulliel.Yep,to me he matches the descriptions in which the character possesses to the full lips and crooked smile.He's definely a dream boy and it's too bad he was not pick for the movie.:(

It would be a waste of serious talent to have Gaspard playing that oh-so-sensitive vampire. Ye Gods, that's one of the dumbest series to ever come out on film.
While it may give a safe sensual thrill to the 12-to-16-year-old girls that this series panders to, it's mindless twaddle with the same psychosexual overtones that make horse stories so appealing to these budding nymphs.
