Sophie's Choice : Remake

See, I dont want Hollywood to remake this. This is untouchable.
BUT, just imagine if this movie was never done before, and they will do it now.
How would you cast in the lead roles?

To me, it would be Jessica Chastain as Sophie, Michael Fassbender as Nathan, Andrew Garfield or Dane DeHaan as Stingo.

Actually, Jessica Chastain (with a blonde dye-job) would be perfect. I was thinking more Melanie Laurent, but yeah, Chastain would nail it.

We're reading the book for the first time. I haven't seen the movie, but the trailer scares me. I was thinking of Melanie Laurent for Sophie as well.

I don't think there's an actress, or filmmaker for that matter who will touch it while Meryl is alive.

It's just too iconic.
