"The actors suffered from nuke-mares during the filming" - Director

In the directors commentary, Nicholas Meyer (the Director) talks about how the actors had a hard time "living" the story while working on the film. Steve Guttenberg apparently had these nightmares quite often.

Meyer was also in (Psych) analysis at the time and tried talking himself out of doing the movie, because he didn't want to confront the subject matter either. His analyst said "Now is when we find out who you really are", which made him realise he had to do the movie. He then used that same line on many other crew members to get them to do the movie (like the Cinematographer).

I think its interesting that the subject was so disturbing, even the crew had nightmares like many of the viewers did. He also says they had to resort to gallows humor to get through it all. I can't blame them, it was such a miserable scenario to act out on film.

I remember watching it when it aired. Those particular feelings were abundant, many people I knew refused to watch it.
