Red Dawn : Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

You'd think in a place like that half the town wouldn't have taken off to fight those damned Reds.

What are they doing? Why do they come here?
Some kind of instinct, memory, what they used to do.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

They weren't all jocks.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

many of the people had young kids, old parents etc. they had to take care of and they didn't want to run to the hills and leave them to fend for themselves. It was difficult to get people to safety because the bad guys were probably blocking all roads, rail etc.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

Who would you expect, the football team or the poetry club?

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

The Chemistry and Science club nerds could have helped to make some bombs and poisons and the greasers in the shop classes could have built weapons and neat off road vehicles

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

jakealope, that's hilarious. i would have loved to see a montage of the different cliques working together with their respective skills

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

heck these days with all the survivalists, doomsday preppers, gun nuts etc, there would be more people in the hills than the towns.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

Gun nuts? This is the problem. People belive and label law abiding and responsable gun owners as "gun nuts". Drink up that propaganda.... they must all be right wing nuts too I guess.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

Feeling sorry for yourself lately? How pathetic. I didn't even use the term disparagingly but you have to unleash your whole canned tirade.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

Edit... I was over the top, tired and cranky. The other night i was frustrated and sick of being attacked because I carry a firearm without guilt, but with weekly training and qualifying.

Ok I see that you did not mean that in a bad way, and I also see you didnt refer to all gun owners as "gunnuts" what so ever.

Just before seeing your thread I was in lengthy debate on another website about the subject of second amendment rights. I was attacked for beliving that responsable and law abiding people who use, train and enjoy fire arms dont want to shoot up schools and kill kids. That term "gun nut" is used so loosely on political websites these days about anyone who carries a gun or participates in shooting sports that if you even mention firearms your label a right winger, child killing, gunnut.

So when I was reading your comment i just went off. So I apologize for going off on your comment and reading into your use of that term. I dont like that term in general because its used at a very general level. And leagally by federal law if your "nuts" you shouldnt even have a fire arm. I am not nuts as my medication is tightly controlled. Just kidding, no meds here, just a light hearted joke making fun of my self. So anyway...

Sorry about that lame comment. I man up when im wrong as in this case.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

The 2012 Red Dawn film had those different cliques working together. They had a marine, 2 football guys (one being a QB), 1 techie geek and his geekish friend who happened to be the Mayor's son (who was African American), this Latino brother and sister, and 2 other American mainstream hot sisters.

Breakfast Club meets Red Dawn? :)

Colonel Angus: Well thank you Miss Anabelle. And if I overstay my welcome, just tap me on the head.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

In the movie top commie tells to find a document, that lists all gun owners in the town. When you get them, it´s majority of town´s opposition away. Those kids went only hiding and sure hell weren´t planning any guerilla action. It was afterwards, when they started to fight against commies.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

Only a few were jocks. You also had the "goodie two-shoes" and the class clown.

To the world you may just be somebody, but to somebody you may just be the world.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

But only the kids were cool enough to have a cool name for their guerrilla faction- complete with a kickass name to spray paint on the tanks and jeeps.

WOLVERINES!!!!!

My "#3" key is broken so I'm putting one here so i can cut & paste with it.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

Just because you didn't see others take to the hills to fight the communist invaders does not mean that it didn't happen.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

I don't understand why the didn't go home first? They didn't really know that it was in invasion. They immediately head for the hills and then cry about not seeing their families.

Re: "I don't understand why the didn't go home first? They didn't really know that it was in invasion."

Huh??? Didn't know it was an invasion?!? Jones8557, what movie were you watching? Did you think the paratroopers, the soldiers with automatic weapons, and the armored vehicles were all sent over from a rowdy rival high school? Did the students' teacher get shot with a paint pellet or multiple bullets?

Colonel Angus: Well thank you Miss Anabelle. And if I overstay my welcome, just tap me on the head.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

I was watching this one. The students weren't presented with enough evidence to come to the conclusion of an invasion. Terrorist yes, invasion no.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

Your hardcore survivalists and ex-military types would probably have figured out what was going on right away, and headed for Free America at the get-go, not waited behind enemy lines for months and months.

Re: Why Only the High School Jocks Take to the Hills

The traitor who gets killed wasn't a jock, he was president of the honor society or some sh!t. I don't think Robert (C Thomas Howell) was a jock, either. Neither were the girls or Danny.

I pretty sure it was just Jed and Matt (Sheen) who were on the high school football team.
