Princess Caroline of Monaco : I really like her

I really like her

I think Caroline is a really neat lady. I haven't always approved of her personal behavior, but I still like her. I saw an interview with her in 1996, I think it was, and she was so smart, so well-spoken, that I was almost stunned.

Her smartness, which I think tends more toward brilliance, is probably the reason why she never fit in that well with the rest of her family. Not that the rest of her family was dumb but Caroline is pretty much the brain of the Grimaldis.

And the late Prince Rainier, bless his heart, absolutely adored all his children, and of course his grandchildren. One of the most touching photos of the Grimaldis that I have seen was Rainier kissing his little granddaughter, Princess Alexandra, on the forehead.

Re: I really like her

What a lovely post! I agree - Princess Caroline is very bright. She speaks so many languages and has so many talents and skills. I also appreciate how she has protected her family. She has successfully sued many paparazzi, which will set good precedence for the other princely and royal families. They al5b4l owe HRH Caroline a lot!

Re: I really like her

Thank youand you're right, she has really protected her family. When her second husband Stefano died in a boating accident, she moved to a farmhouse in the French countryside about a year later, to get away from the paparazzi. The paparazzi did try to intrude, but the people of the town formed a protective wall around Caroline and her children, and would not say a word about them.

The people of Monaco really rallied around Caroline immediately after Stefano's death, whereas before they had been kind of disrespectful to her, saying she "wasn't doing a very good job" as First Lady of Monaco, and they spoke nastily of her disastrous first marriage, which ended in divorce, and her party-girl days. They complained that she was not classy like her mother had been.

But when she lost her husband, they "forgave all," and protected her as best they could. Her family also came together to support her, even Princess Stephanie, who had never been close to Caroline.

Caroline may have been initially uneasy in her role as First Lady after Grace died, but she grew into it, and she continued many of her mother's most-loved projects regarding the arts. She's a flawed person who has made her share of mistakes, but overall, I think she's a neat lady.

Re: I really like her

Woot for Caroline love! [grin] She is a great woman, talented, educated and incredibly well spoken. I caught a documentary about her last night (only a little one, rehashing stuff) and thought I should check up, seeing as I haven't heard anything about her. Boy have I missed things! laugh.gif She's so great and like you said, flawed - I happen to like that about her. I think the best princesses - and other popular figuresb68 in the world - are the ones who have shown they are human and can make mistakes, but still have a wealth of character, personality, dignity and strength. She's almost like Princess Diana in a way (I'm not trying to compare them - that's a debate I don't want to weight into). One of my favourite photos ever is of Caroline at the Bal de la Rose - sitting at a table with Karl Lagerfeld, a glass of wine in hand, a cigarette in the other, completely enraptured with what Karl was saying. I think that just proves it all - you can be a great lady and full of vitality and life. Viva la divina Carolina! wink.gif laugh.gif

Re: I really like her

I have never seen any of her interviews, but have heard nice things about her over the years. I felt really bad for her when she lost her mom and 2nd husband. Wow knowing she's a grandma now, makes you realize how fast time flies! I did not know she had 3 degrees. Nor was I aware that she and her kid sister were not close years ago.
