Black Mirror : San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

At 21, i'm positive the tech will be there in my life time.
I follow technology closely and I predict by the time in 65 i'll get to experience an afterlife. Can't wait

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

That's awfully positive.

My strength is greater than my weakness

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

It's a possibility. Forty years? Compare technology now to technology from the 1970s, and just imagine technology in the 2050s.

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

Here comes the Matrix....

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

Nah, it won't happen, it is pure science fiction, just like the flying car.

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

Have you ever been on a Ryanair flight? Essentially it's a flying bus. So we're almost there ?

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

I suppose it might be possible one day to scan your brain and make a virtual copy that would behave like you, based on your memories, but it would be just that: a copy. I doubt we will ever be able to actually transfer someone's conscience (or soul, essence or whatever you want to call it, depending on your beliefs).

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

hate to break it to you kid, you're gonna die.

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

^Horrible thing to say.

My strength is greater than my weakness

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

Haha, it's the truth and it's hilarious

And I predict that your afterlife will be wiped out by an idiot, a natural disaster or the simple need to free up hard drive space.

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

"Hello, Tech? Yes, well.. I'm up on floor 6 and I've sort of messed up a little bit. How? Er, well I accidentally dragged Bulgaria in to the recycle bin, but when I pulled it out it said all the occupants were dead. You can fix that, right?"

Properly read, the Bible is the most potent force for atheism ever conceived. -Isaac Asimov

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

hardly seems plausible..humans are not as intelligent & invincible as you think they are, back to the future predicted hovercars in 2015, where tf are they? There are speculations but not likely coming anytime soon. There have hardly been any cutting edge inventions in last 50-80 years or so. People's brains have become dull w/ excessive visual stimulation ®ressive environmental conditions. Many people have great ideas but only a very few work on them with passion/some leave it midway. Young generation today is all about high GPAs,junk food, porn, social media, drugs, bullying, people pleasing and stuff
Momentary pleasures are given more importance than long-lasting satisfaction. Everybody just thinks "somebody would do it"..the cycle continues

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

It'll happen eventually, but I'm not sure if it'll be within 40 years.

Futurists like Ray Kurzweil think that mind uploading will be available in the 2040s. But we will see.

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

As far as I have seen in documentaries etc, the brain is the most complex system we know and we only understand a tiny part of how it works after the last how many years of modern science? I don't think there'll be any breakthroughs radical enough to allow a complete understanding of how it works, to emulate one perfectly in a machine, AND to seemlessly port a real mind into a machine any time in the foreseeable future. Probably never. The main interest in stories like Black Mirror is the philosophical questions it raises about the human condition that we are in right now.

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

Counter point: no it won't.

Re: San Junipero WILL happen in my lifetime

Counter counter point: If it is, only the top .0001% will be able to afford it.
