Black Mirror : Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

It shouldn't really need to be said but it was refreshing to see so many different colored faces leading/among the cast, and it was especially nice to see so many different roles for women.

Leading woman in Ep1
2 Leading women exploring a lesbian relationship in Ep4
Military commander and second in hand both female in Ep5
2 Leading woman as detectives in Ep6

It seams weird listing it like that but its true that you just wouldn't find this on other shows.

What about the forests?...... NOPE!

Re: Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

I don't judge tv shows, film or any other medium by the physical appearance of those involved, I'm more interested in the narrative, the acting, and the overall production. It's so short sighted to based your enjoyment on gender/race/sexuality.

I never actually said I even liked the show, just that I was refreshed to see a diverse cast.

Re: Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

"I was refreshed to see a diverse cast."

Manages to praise the show for having a majority female cast.

Re: Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

Yes, and that's the problem. Insecure, race obsessed people. are there enough black people? are there enough women? are there too many?

Grow up, outside of Twitter and IMDB noone thinks about those questions. You need to be good at what you do.

Re: Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

Don't try and spread negativity about its boring.

What about the forests?...... NOPE!

Re: Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

if one were to look at negativituh boringness, one should start with jidf losers and their ocd riddled rambles and basic poopposting about dieversituh etc

btw 'sneaky' would mean no one notices, jew

but still a great one, jew, try to be so original and ingenious more, I'm impressed

in case: jk you're not smart, just a really weak and transparent troll

paradox, retard: if you didn't alert of yourself, I wouldn't even know you're crawling around, thus no need to alert of what you are

Re: Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

They were all in the future, there will be less white men.

I think i've usually been in a nice mix of people in my schooling and jobs. School, happened to have another native for a bestie, along with a white guy, white lesbian girl, and black dude. All jobs had a nice mix. Oddly, I'm in the whitest environment now (IT) than I've ever been.

Extra fun, the first episode, has the white male having to screw a pig. /shrug

Re: Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

Not very sneaky. Highly disproportionate number of minorities in the episode I saw. Unrealistic, and detracts from the storyline.

Re: Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

So a story that has nothing to do with race...is less impactful because of the person's race?

Re: Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

The best episodes of the season were led by woman: http://film-book.com/tv-review-black-mirror-season-3-episodes-1-6-netflix/

Re: Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

u just made me figure out why i liked those 4 episodes less than the other 2

thanks

Re: Season 3: sneakily being ultra progressive in its casting/writing

I agree. The quality "nosedived" too in Season 3 a lot. I watched Season 2 and it was world's better. They're getting preachy now, and it's a shame.
