He is supposed to be but the kid from the remake is light years worse. Evil Ed from the original is essential.

Not at all. He's funny annoying, thats just his character. Jar-Jar Binks on the other hand is not the least bit funny and is by far one of the most hated characters in cinema history.
Evil Ed sure as hell doesn't make me wanna stick hot needles into my eyes and ears every time he's on screen.

I didn't want ed to die. I felt sad for him. Jar jar I wanted him to die a painful death. Every second of the movie.

I just can't stand Ed's voice or the way he talks. I understand there's characters that you're not supposed to like, but characters that make you actively hate what you're watching is a whole other level.

I wholeheartedly agree. I have felt this way for years and last night I introduced a friend to this film and all he kept complaining about was how annoying Ed was. He was clearly displeased with him and I'd done nothing to warn him about the character beforehand so it wasn't my own judgment coloring his.

Agreed! I always loved Ed and thought he was really funny. The scene where Peter Vincent kills him is heartbreaking.

Omg thank you! I just re-watched this after many years and Evil is so annoying. The movie is really cheesy, but the sfx makeup is still on point! Evil made a better vampire than a character though.

He was irritating but thankfully he didn't have as much screentime as the other characters so he didn't hurt the movie any.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I just watched this for the first time in a few years and I was shocked at how annoying he was. I always considered Fright Nigh to be one of my favorite horror movies but he really hurts the movie in my opinion. He completely overacts in every scene he's in. And his character is pretty pointless. I don't think it would effect the movie that much if they just cut him out completely.
