The Emerald Forest : Ending Question (spoilers)

Ending Question (spoilers)

When Bill sets the dynamite at the end, what's he trying to do? I'm guessing that he wants to blow the dam himself b/c he thinks Tommy's goal is unrealistic. So he evacuates the men so no one can see him do it, but before he can push the button, the water itself does indeed break the dam. Is this what's happening?

Number 1, I order you to go take a number 2.

Re: Ending Question (spoilers)

Did he do any "time" for blowing the dam up?

Re: Ending Question (spoilers)

I think it is a reaction of a Father wanting to do what he can to help his son live a happy life. Bill realizes that if the dam is destroyed,it may not stop the progression of the rainforest destruction, but at least it will slow it down.
I just watched the movie this morning on IFC, and really enjoyed it.

Re: Ending Question (spoilers)

You're right. It's a dad's way of protecting his son. I'm not certain it's even about helping him live a happy life. It's about a father's love.
