Back to the Future : Bribing the Cop

Bribing the Cop

I just watched the film for the first time since approx. 3 years and i just realised for the first time that when the cop asks Doc if he has a permission for his experiment he is bribing the cop

Re: Bribing the Cop

There's a deleted scene that shows Doc give the policeman money.

Re: Bribing the Cop

Ah yeah i never knew that. Thanks!

Re: Bribing the Cop

Until I saw the deleted scene, I always thought Doc really did have a permit with him.

Re: Bribing the Cop

Really? I thought it was obvious. Even if he was issued a permit, which is highly unlikely, he certainly wouldn't have had his application approved within a week. As well as that their body language seemed to indicate that Doc probably didn't have one and he was indirectly asking for a bribe.

We have to show the world that not all of us are like him: Henning von Tresckow.

Re: Bribing the Cop

It took me a long time to stop and think about that, and then realize he was actually taking money out of his wallet to bribe him. I was pleased though that I realized that before seeing the outtakes.
It's a subtle bit; I remember a year or two ago my brother and I were watching the first movie again, and he pointed that out, wondering what kind of permit he would have had, and told him it was a bribe and it blew his mind that he never picked up on that.

Re: Bribing the Cop

Always found that part really funny...
"Have you got a permit for this?"
"Sure!" *reaches for wallet*

Re: Bribing the Cop

My younger self used to believe Doc had a real permit, too. Heh.

I chuckle every time I watch that scene now.

You want something corny? You got it!

Re: Bribing the Cop

Cop: You got a permit for that?

Doc: Sure! How does 50 "permits" sound?
