Big : Know what's *beep* up?
Re: Know what's *beep* up?
Outside of your safe space many 13-year old's lose their virginity.

Re: Know what's *beep* up?
Yes but with a 30 year old? That's pedophilia FFS.
That's not to say I think it's F'd up in this case. It didn't bother me at all because she didn't know his real age, and the guy had the body of a grown man.

Re: Know what's *beep* up?
He was obviously post-pubescent. He was also probably too mature looking for a pedophile's wet dream. I think the big idea that should be taken from this is that it didn't ruin Josh's life like some would like to believe. As shown the next day back at work, Josh was happy and celebratory about his life changing achievement. Josh got settled into his adult role very nicely, which is something that can't be said for many real world adults. And despite the age difference, Susan did not coerce him in any way into having sex with her.

Re: Know what's *beep* up?
13 is old enough to know about sex, when I was 13 I was still a kid in many ways, but I knew about sex, was very enchanted by the female form and had already discovered masturbation.
So given the context that the character is a 13 year old but in a 30 year old's body, I don't think it's that strange.

Re: Know what's *beep* up?
Apologies, but I don't quite know what point you're making in response to mine. Like I said, the scene didn't bother me at all. But your response to the OP was basically that it's OK for a 13 year old to lose his virginity to an adult. If you'd said something like it was OK because he was an 'adult' and Susan had no idea that Josh was really a child, then great. But your initial reaction had nothing to do with that.

Re: Know what's *beep* up?
I said no such thing in reply to the OP. Although I'm certain plenty of younger teenagers lose their virginities to (legal) adults, disregarding child trafficking victims.

Re: Know what's *beep* up?
Well you did. The OP condemned the fact that a 13 year old boy had sex with a 30 year old woman, and you condoned it by saying that it's normal, not by saying that Josh was in a full grown body and that Susan didn't know he was a child.

All I said is that many 13-year old's have lost their virginity. Not once in my reply did I make reference to adults.

Re: Know what's *beep* up?
The OP wasn't saying he was disgusted by the fact that a 13 year old had sex. He was disgusted by the fact that a 13 year old boy had sex with an adult. If you choose to disagree with him by referring to the former of those two points rather than the latter, then you're not actually addressing the OP's point at all.
It's like me saying I don't want to paint my walls blue and then you saying that I don't want to paint my walls.

Re: Know what's *beep* up?
My reply was just a throwaway comment to take the piss out of the OP's tired complaint. He said that the movie was great until a 13-year old felt up a 30-something year old Woman. At the end of his post he made it a point to decry that Josh is a child, as if Susan was wrong for doing it. She didn't coerce him into doing it. Josh, the horny, post-pubescent, 13-year old boy did it all on his own.
Although if you're gonna paint your walls, baby blue is really the only way to go.

Re: Know what's *beep* up?
You're missing the point. Yes. Physically Josh is an adult. But mentally, he's only a 13 year old kid.
How do you know it didn't ruin Josh's life or affect his outlook on sex? We don't get to see the mental affect it has on him because those wouldn't become apparent for some years to come.
You, like so many others, fail to understand the problem with adult\teen sexual relationships.

Okayplease do explain it to us.
You, like so many others, fail to understand the problem with adult\teen sexual relationships.
I am genuinely interested in how adult/teen relationships are innately more harmful than teen/teen relationships. I mean, I am especially interested in how it would be a problem in the context of this theoretical (VERY ) situation.

Re: Know what's *beep* up?
She was late 20s at the oldest, but that's beside the point. My point is, how on earth was Susan to know he was only 13? To her, this was a grown adult 30 year old man, and it was an adult body. Come on, would YOU believe it? She was not a paedophile at all, she couldn't have possibly known the truth.

An adult has sex with an adult.
Re: Know what's *beep* up?
80s movies were weird like that. The movie overall is pretty lite in tone, but when you really sit back and look at it, there's a lot of dark *beep* going on.

The movie is not dark in tone, in any way. I can't even fathom how anyone could think that. It is an enjoyable, hilarious movie with great performances by all. I especially love Elizabeth Perkins role - going from a callous, if you will cut-throat corporate ladder climbing character and becoming softer, kinder, and more relatable. It is silly; it is fun; it is fantasy. I saw this movie in the theaters when I was 18 and I have the DVD and have watched this with my three sons many times over the years - it is one of their favorites. There are the eerie or scary parts with the fortune teller machine, but it is completely offset by the comedy in the rest of the film. Love this movie and quote from it often. Nothing dark about it.
