Red Dwarf : from some jokes and eps you can tell this show was made by men

from some jokes and eps you can tell this show was made by men

E.g. the holoship episode

women would not want to have sex as much as men, biologically they are simply not wired that way

also, the Ace Rimmer episode in S7 where he tells her, 'and hopefully some sex' and she replies, 'what a guy' it's very much guy humour, a woman would never write this

Re: from some jokes and eps you can tell this show was made by men

Women ARE wired that way. They've just been forced by a patriarchal cultural to hide it.

In the future, I doubt holographic women are that concerned with the patriarchy.

Re: from some jokes and eps you can tell this show was made by men

Like the person above says, many women love sex, it's just that over centuries they've been told that it's wrong to enjoy having lots of sex, often by the devoutly religious.

As a woman myself, I do think women - often but not always - need an genuine attraction with someone to have sex with them, even if it's just a physical attraction and find being with a total stranger less appealing. ( I should restate that that's many women but not all, by any means. )

Re: from some jokes and eps you can tell this show was made by men

Who'd have thought that a show primarily based around men marooned in space, sometimes longing for female company, was likely to be written by men?
Ace Rimmer's basically James Bond meets any other hero you'd care to throw in e.g Top Gun, Flash Gordon, Indiana Jones. If women didn't fall at his feet what would be the point being so dashing?

Ahh you see now this post is closer to the truth.

Men very much would enjoy constantly making love to strange women.

Also as you said, women need to feel strong attraction (good partner to mate with), whereas men need to feel very little in comparison to want to copulate with female.

I really don't think the holoship scenario would ever take place outside a male fantasy. Maybe like the good-looking captain or something would have his pick, like the episode showed, but only a few guys like that. Women just aren't wired that way.

Re: from some jokes and eps you can tell this show was made by men

Nope, they are not.

Women are wired to seek the best mate and potential father to their offspring. Men simply are wired to spread their seed as much as possible which is why they like sex so much, they lose nothing by impregnating as many women as they can. This is why young women are forced to turn down sexual advances from horny men constantly, it's scientific (not because of some patriarchal nonsense that you think).

Re: from some jokes and eps you can tell this show was made by men

Virgin misogynist alert!

Who do you think men are spreading their seed with? Other men?

Women lose nothing by being inseminated by more than one man.

Perhaps if you ever get a girlfriend, you'll discover a little secret **whisper it**... women love fücking.

Re: from some jokes and eps you can tell this show was made by men

Women lose nothing by being inseminated by more than one man.

uhhh yes they do, they really do

their instincts tell them to mate with a male that not only provides good genetic stock but that will hang around afterward also, there's a reason in olden times they were called 'hunter gatherers' and 'providers'

being inseminated by more than one man would go against this instinct (ancient men were thought to actually kill offspring that they thought were from another man), so normally no it would not be natural for a woman to want to be inseminated by more than one man

your willful lack of understanding of this concept to me could mean 1 of 2 things, either you have the extremely good fortune to be a top tier desirable male, women give you these signals, that you think it is normal for every male to be treated in such a way or (unfortunately the most probable) you're simply a male-fantasist, thinking in such a way as the guys when they wrote that holoship episode

Re: from some jokes and eps you can tell this show was made by men

Wow, olden times

Firstly, you do realise that women were being raped left, right and centre in the past? They didn't really have much of a choice when it came to partners. Their families and communities would choose a mate or they'd be dragged off by one.

The idea that they were choosing the good-looking athletic guy or had any significant involvement in regards to choosing mates at all is pretty ludicrous.

Equally as ludicrous as the idea that only one man had good genetic stock. What about all the other men of good genetic stock that she meets?

Next time you're talking about men spreading their seed, ask yourself... who are they spreading their seed with? Obviously it can't be women because according to you... women don't just fück random guys like that.

So who is it?

Re: from some jokes and eps you can tell this show was made by men

their hand I guess, or prostitutes and stuff, or their imagination as in they just fxck 1 woman and imagine someone else

Re: from some jokes and eps you can tell this show was made by men

What is wrong with you icecutter? I can't make out whether you're male or female. Whatever, the implication of your original post is that you feel that the writers (and now writer) have never quite lived up to your ideal that they accurately portray feminine thinking. Which, in a blokish fantasy set on a spaceship, is a bit odd for you to concentrate on as a yardstick. Then you try to make arguments wsith people who've had the decency to reply to your post. You sound like you have perfectionism due to frustration. Maybe you don't but you SOUND like you do.
