I thought it was sentimental crap. Loved Bull Durham, though.
I just watched the last 45 minutes on HBO and liked it.
Damn getting old is rough!

LOL... I just watched the last moments too, from the James Earl Jones' speech about baseball to when the cars are lined up for miles.
I'm 55 years old and played baseball through college. This movie always seems to be on when I'm dicing onions and renders me useless for about 10 minutes.
My father is still alive (87yrs old), but when Ray says, "Dad... wanna have a catch?", I LOSE it.
It makes me think back to a simpler time, when most of my teammates' AND opponents' fathers were still alive and how freaking awesome it would be to have them back just for one day, just to see how they were when they were younger and have a catch.
To paraphrase Lou Gehrig:
My father is still alive, so I feel like I'm the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.
