Field of Dreams : Why does no one act like a normal person would upon seeing ghosts?

Why does no one act like a normal person would upon seeing ghosts?

I tried to watch this movie a while back seeing as it was nominated for an Oscar, but I shut it off about half way through. I mean, these people see a bunch of dead baseball players playing baseball on their field and everyone acts like it's normal. The only person's reaction that was slightly believable was the little girl who said "Are you a ghost?" And what do her parents do? They hush her for being rude. What the hell? There's dead people playing baseball on your property and you're worried about your daughter asking if they're ghosts? You're the one who should be asking them if they're ghosts, and asking them about the afterlife, and asking them what the *beep* they're doing there. I mean, what the hell?

What are you talking about? Didn't you see that guy who, upon seeing the ghosts screamed "A GHOST!!!" and his eyeballs popped three times out of his head before he ran through a brick wall, leaving a hole the size and shape of his panicked body? I always loved that part.

And you have to look closely, but one of the first cars at the end is the Scooby Doo "Mystery Machine"- sent there by Terrence Mann's son to investigate the disappearance of his father.

Unfortunately, they never got the green light to start production of "Field of Dreams 2"

Aye. The haggis is in the fire for sure.

field of dreams 2 sounds good! tho, the mystery machine needs to be called 'louisville slugger' & they need to paint it brown. like a bat.

Are you f_cking kidding me? Anyone who has aspired to BE a baseball player, or anyone who has even aspired to MEET one of these players, would gladly give their left nut to have a chance to even SEE ONE of them again. Ghosts, schmosts. They were most of the "infamous" Black Sox team... they were other baseball players from a bygone era that MEANT something to a whole lot of people! Not since the integration and free agency of baseball, has anyone felt for players or teams like they did "back then". Yes, that might sound racist and anti-player, but watch some historical programs about baseball... notably, Ken Burns' films: The Ten Innings of "Baseball". Watch them... learn from them... and then, you won't be such a schmo!

Well, I think Ray was expecting Shoeless Joe to come back so that explains why they didn't act the way you're thinking. Remember when the voice tells him to build the field and he tells his wife that he thinks it means Shoeless Joe will come back to play ball again? Then he goes out to see Shoeless Joe and says, "I built this field for you." Ray was expecting him. Also remember, Ray asks his father later on, "Is there a heaven?" So Ray did ask about the afterlife.
