Back to the Future Part II : Surprising things about 2015 to 1985 folks

Surprising things about 2015 to 1985 folks

What are some things about the real 2015 that would surprise people from 1985?

* We elected a black president in 2008.
* Same-sex marriage is legal everywhere in the US and many Western countries.
* There is still no cure for HIV/AIDS and that it is devastating non-gay people.
* Almost everyone in the US, even children and lower-income people, carry around a device that allows them contact anyone and look up information instantly, and yet there are still no robot helpers.
* There still hasn't been anyone traveling to the moon (or visited any planets) since 1972.
* We still haven't developed nuclear fusion as an energy source.
* The Soviet Union fell in 1991.
* No one worries about the ozone problem anymore, but it's been replaced by the climate change issue.

Re: Surprising things about 2015 to 1985 folks

* Rock/Metal has taken a back seat to Pop and RnB
* A lot of people no longer use VHS tapes but can stream tv shows and movies on hand held devices or computers (Don't even bother to tell them about DVDS hahaha)
*Most kids no longer play in the street/down the street/outside in general
* That 'joke' they just told will land them in trouble publicly

Computers are the size of your hand (and smaller)
two women have been attorney general of the U.S. one African American
One African American Man was secretary of State
Three women were Secretary of State, one African American
Women can now go into combat.

Maybe theres no pill that you pop and it 100 percent goes away, but getting aids is no longer a death sentence. With the current medication, you can pretty much live close to a normal life span.

* People are now much more aware of environmental issues than they were in the 80s.
* We still don't have hoverboards, but we do have something close to them.
* Video games can now be played on a small screen.
* Our cars still don't fly.
* We still have lawyers.
* Our shoelaces still don't tie themselves automatically.
* While Jaws 19 obviously doesn't exist, there is now a craze to make sequels and reboots for almost everything - e.g. Ghostbusters.

- The internet becoming widespread
- Smartphones, and so many people looking at their smartphones all the time, not paying attention to what's going on around them

----------------
We have clearance, Clarence.
Roger, Roger. What's our vector, Victor?

Re: Surprising things about 2015 to 1985 folks

Actually, I think after first being blown away by them, at least the younger and more tech savvy people of 1985 would realize that today's smartphones, flatscreens, social media, and digital tech are just a logical extension of the early kind of portable techology that was already around in the 80s (like Walkmen, Game Boys, and Polaroid "instant" cameras). I think people were already kinda tech obsessed back then, though of course it didn't connect the world couldn't do that much, lol.

Somebody mentioned vinyl records. I think the teens and 20somethings would be pleasantly surprised about how big nostalgia for old decades (the 80s included) are now! Especially by Hipsters and stuff... since most young people back then probably didn't give a sh*t about the 1950s or 60s.
