The Simpsons : Pros And Cons of Pork & Burns

Pros And Cons of Pork & Burns

Pros
1. "Good bye and good riddance 2016", My Sentiments exactly

2. It's hardly the first time we've seen a robot commit suicide on The Simpsons but that hardly stops it from being funny.

3. An episode that shows Seymour Skinner nearly drowning in his car can't be all that bad.

4. This episode really captures a good side of Lisa. She comes off as a sweet little girl trying to make sense of this crazy world. Sometimes I get tired of her whining about how nobody understands her or when she has this know-it-all attitude (the girl with all the answers to questions nobody asked) but here Lisa's quest for life fulfillment is something you can relate to no matter how old you are.

5. Even if he doesn't understand what a panic attack is, Homer's attempts at calming down Lisa from her panic attack was heartwarming.

6. Bart's attempt at restoring Lisa's love of Jazz was all the more heartwarming because he's been the most vocal critic of Lisa's sax-playing. I especially liked the way Bart's hair connected with Lisa's hair like jigsaw puzzle pieces.

7. Jokes about "The Mayo Clinic" were funny on a personal level since my late Grandfather actually worked at the Mayo Clinic in real life (no he wasn't a jar of Mayonnaise).

8. Good to hear Michael York voicing the local Veterinarian again.

9. Best Line:
Homer: (climbs into the back of a windowless van which already has a Pulp Fiction-esque Gimp, we hear Homer talking to the Gimp offscreen ) So what do you do for a living? (pause) OH MY GOD!

Cons
1. I don't mind The Simpsons being delayed for sports coverage but the Giants-Packers game ended at 7:57 E.S.T. They could have started The Simpsons at normal time. I don't understand why they had to start The Simpsons 9 minutes late for analysis from the guys who do the Pre-Game show for Fox's NFL broadcast.

2. Why did Barney want the Mr. Plow jacket? His business nearly put Mr. Plow out of business. It's like the creator of the VCR buying a Betamax player at a garage sale.

3. Personally I prefer Dolly Parton's version of "I Will Always Love You".

4. Since Abe was at the family meeting, I'm disappointed we never see how he tries to improve his life by removing things that don't bring him joy.

Tune into Fox Sunday January 15 for an exciting Cowboys-Packers divisional round game and stay for the premiere of the Simpsons' 608th episode, the hour-long "The Great Fatsby". The episode involves Homer helping Mr. Burns get revenge on a music mogul, Marge opening a store, and the richest boy in school becoming interested in Lisa.

Go Cowboys and Go Simpsons!

Re: Pros And Cons of Pork & Burns

I give Pork & Burns an 8 out of 10

Both plots were very satisfying and I was very pleased with the number of laughs I got from watching the episode.

That's nothing for him after the swimming pool filled with worms prank that broke him. (Remembering the best part of a mediocre episode.)

5. Even if he doesn't understand what a panic attack is, Homer's attempts at calming down Lisa from her panic attack was heartwarming.

She's been through worse like getting lost after taking the wrong bus to the museum.

7. Jokes about "The Mayo Clinic" were funny on a personal level since my late Grandfather actually worked at the Mayo Clinic in real life (no he wasn't a jar of Mayonnaise).

Okay, so he was the Miracle Whip then?

8. Good to hear Michael York voicing the local Veterinarian again.

Surprising call back.

I liked the bit about the meeting being about grandpa being dead...
"The meeting's not over yet!

A trophy? Memories?

I liked the Carl and Lenny debating if it was a pig or Homer at the work console.

The reveal that Marge herself really couldn't throw anything away was appropriate. Whatever happened to that large mezo-american head thing that Burns (?) gave them?

Re: Pros And Cons of Pork & Burns

I really liked this episode. a lot of great sight gags/references to past episodes and jokes. Plopper/spiderpig made the episode for me

Apparently that gave them joy, so it never was 'thrown out' but instead still in their basement (from time-to-time) occasionally used to store donuts, hang a clothesline from, and used as a ramp prop for Bart to jump over.

Re: Pros And Cons of Pork & Burns

Lisa bringing up that she wears a short dress shows me that they still have edge, I know some pansy Christians who would tell you to change the channel.

I would love the opportunity to kill you legally

Don't tell me what to do.

I believe in the right to bear arms, as long as my arms are the ones that are being beared.

Re: Pros And Cons of Pork & Burns

Pro: The book cover of O'Reilly's latest book, "Killing Hannity," with a knife-wielding BOR behind Hannity. Best visual joke in some time.

Re: Pros And Cons of Pork & Burns

That was great!
