Beverly Hills, 90210 : No original music and too many edits
Re: No original music and too many edits
I agree about the Pop edits. They are really hacking up the episodes but the original music is gone for good I think. It's not even on the DVDs. They did an awful job with the filler music and it really takes away from the tone of the show.
Re: No original music and too many edits
Weren't there more scenes with DeShawn? Maybe I'm not paying attention very well, but the first time I saw him was during dinner at Professor Randall, Lucinda, and Brandon. I could've sworn he had way more scenes than this and his confrontation with Brandon?
Re: No original music and too many edits
needed much more of lucinda's spicy salsa theme music!

Yep, there were pre-dinner scenes with DeShawn. And much more spicy Guatemalan lustiness from Lucinda.
The tone is indeed ruined. Music was an essential key to the show. I wonder if, when we get to the late- and post-college years, all those '90s hits kicking off each episode will have been replaced.
We should start a thread called "RIP: Pop-axed scenes"

Re: No original music and too many edits
I know right I wish BH90210 was back on FXX they didn't delete scenes or edit out the music. I agree the filler music take away from the scenes and make the show not worth watching I don't understand why they edit the music off the DVDs I'm glad I didn't buy the DVDs I would be too mad.
I thought DeShawn was a in a lot more episodes as well.

Re: No original music and too many edits
Yea that episode from where David started using drugs and was going nutzo on the radio while Donna was listening at home, they changed it to some ballady lame song that totally ruined the scene. I hate this no name music they are using as filler!
Just wait til you see how badly butchered the scenes are at After Dark later in the series when they had so many famous artists on. They totally cut out those scenes but the charactera still talk about them as if they just saw them. Lame!

No! I've been looking forward to seeing maroon 5 play at After Dark when they were still called Karas flowers. That's a major disappointment.

So true!
"Living In A Fantasy" was PERFECT for that scene! And now it's gone!
Re: No original music and too many edits
classic.
Season's Greetings!
Re: No original music and too many edits
I think the song Donna was listening to was Tevin Campbell "can we talk" I know it was an R&B song.
Re: No original music and too many edits
The filler music is really distracting. I just saw the episode where Claire goes over to Brandon's house to try and seduce him, and I remember in the original episode she did a sexy dance to this song:
http://youtu.be/y17yZBrrijc
But when I watched it on POP, the song had changed to some light radio love ballad. It wasn't something anyone would gyrate to.
Also, there's a scene where Dylan puts a CD into his stereo and starts bobbing his head up and down to the beat. In the original episode, I'm sure he was listening to rock 'n' roll or something. But in the pop version, it's a light jazz song. It was so funny watching him "rage" to it.

Re: No original music and too many edits
"We've Only Just Begun" when we walked down Jim and Cindy's memory lane
I thought it was "What The World Needs Now Is Love Sweet Love."
Maybe I'm wrong. Hard to remember w/ all the crap replacement music.
Re: No original music and too many edits
It was What the World Needs Now That scene is etched into my brain for some reason.
Re: No original music and too many edits
Yep, it was indeed "What the World Needs Now". Great memories!
No original music and too many edits
And the edits: way too many cuts. We're missing vital scenes (like the candlelight ceremony at Alpha Omega when AHNdrea wore her Star of David) and just getting recaps via dialogue. It kinda ruins it.
