Hatfields & McCoys : Bravo Tom Berenger!

Bravo Tom Berenger!

Didn't think he had it in him…some fine acting there. Should be a lock to win a supporting role award of sorts.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

" Best actor of the show, followed by those who played CottonTop "

It wasn't the first time Noel Fisher …who played Cotton Top…played that character. He played that same role…a developmentally challenged young man…in a 2009 hallmark christmas film … http://www.imdb.com/board/11519929/">http://www.imdb.com/board/11519929/…(he was the main character).

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

I didn't even recognize him – and he did steal the show. Wow.

Mr. Berenger is back!

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

Berenger really excels in historical roles.

He gives two of my favorites as Longstreet in 'Gettysburg' and Theodore Roosevelt in 'Rough Riders'.

He was a bit less successful playing Paul 'Bear' Bryant in ESPN's 'Junction Boys'.

I always enjoy seeing him in films and didn't even recognize him at first on 'Hatfields & McCoys'. He was quite good. One of the highlights.

Frank: Just a man.
Harmonica: An ancient race.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

He played one mean SOB!

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

I thought he was great….

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

"Bad Guys" have to give an actor more to work with….he just has to be careful not to overdo it. I think that's where the real talent lies.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

I must say, I agree entirely. I thought Mr. Berenger's performance was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

In fact I think the acting was pretty damn good from all involved. I found it a very interesting event to watch.

And I know some here don't like Mr. Costner however I thought he did a splendid job as "Devil Anse" also.

Bravo to all involved, I say.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

At least KC didn't ruin the movie by attempting a rural West Virginia accent like that horrible Boston accent like he did, as JFK advisor Ken O'Donnell, in THIRTEEN DAYS. IMO, accents aren't his strong suit. If you listen to the quintessential KC troll, one189, he did the best acting job in this movie.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

Quintessential is an awful big word to use, netitans. You might hurt yourself hoisting that kind of word at little old me…and I'm hardly a troll. If you don't like my posts, you are most welcomed to put me on your ignore list…like I will do to you.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

Agreed! Didn't recognize him either. Realling loving the series (watching it on DVR and only a third of the way through).

Not looking this way, cupcake!

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

I also thought Tom stole the movie! I do wish more attention had been paid to the accents. I have always agreed that KC is weak in this area.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

I kept wondering when he was going to appear. Didn't realize he already had, that he was the uncle until 30 minutes of episode 3.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

Agreed. I didn't even know that was him! I kept thinking damn I know that he is in this when is he going to show?!

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

I was pleasantly surprised by Tom Berenger's performance. He hasn't acted that well in a long time.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

I agree. He was fantastic and was one hell of a character. I didn't even recognize him, and you know someone did a great job acting when people can praise your role despite playing a dispecable human being. There are some who cannot differentiate between character and actor…

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

Didn't even know it was him. When an actor can pull that off, he's just amazing. I sure hope he wins!

Wht about dat job i did for ju in Freedom Town Da Rebenga hit, wht was dat a game of dominoes, mang?

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

I have always been amazed at how Tom disappears into a role. Often you don't even know it's him.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

He owned it. Nobody disappeared into their character like him. Like everyone else in this thread is saying, he stole the show.
Definitely deserved the Emmy.

Know what I mean?

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

He was amazing, and played the most fascinating character imo.

Duty Now For The Future

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

I knew he was in the movie but I didn't even recognize him at first. Great make-up job. He was my favorite character.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

Tom Berenger's performance was perfect. 10/10.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

Agreed. Was able to watch all 3 episodes all the way through today and there was no way I thought Vance was Tom Berenger, he disappeared into the role that much. :)

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

That Character He played was "icky", that's the only word I can use to describe Him.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

Agreed, Bill Paxton and Tom Beregner really made this series.

Re: Bravo Tom Berenger!

Berenger did a great job playing Jim Vance in this series. He really came off as pretty cold-blooded killing the young Union soldier at the beginning just for taking corn. And then he instigated the confrontation with Asa Harmon McCoy in the bar just for wearing a Union coat, and later tracked him down and killed him. And in the New Years' Eve raid on the McCoy cabin, his voice was absolutely bone-chilling when he yelled out "Randall McCoy, your final day has dawned" and he threatened to burn up the young McCoy kids, their " wee bodies a' spittin and a'steamin" in the flames. He wasn't a very nice individual.

He did a real good job in 'One Man's Hero' and 'Last of the Dogmen' also, though his character in those movies was a bit nicer.
