Joseph R. Gannascoli : They're trying to sue him???

They're trying to sue him???

Being from the UK, I can't believe it when I read people talking openly about the homophobic attitudes of some companies. The die pill manufacturers didn't want him playing a gay character on a TV Show?

a/ it's not their position to decide that
b/ IF IN THIS COUNTRY, A COMPANY WAS OPENLY HOMOPHOBIC, THERE WOULD BE A HUGE OUTCRY

This is what I don't understand, take Brokeback Mountain - in America the whole country and his dog had an opinion on that film. In the UK, it was very popular, it was number one at the box office for a time, but people who didn't want to see it, well they didn't go to see it. We didn't have endure protests, and right-wing nutters spewing their rhetoric on the six o'clock news.

It's a great difference in our cultures that the British will say "Open homophobia? Ooh, they're not going to get away with that" and the Americans will say "Just another day in the USA."

"You know, sometimes being brainwashed is good. Clean your mind of all the bad stuff"

Re: They're trying to sue him???

I also want to make it clear that I fully support Joe Gannascoli in this ridiculous lawsuit.

Re: They're trying to sue him???

According to IMDB, we only have his word that these problems are a result of homophobia Maybe they are, maybe they aren't; but it doesn't sound like it's 'cut & dried' enough yet to start protesting, even if cetain groups want to

I just find myself wondering if his publicity photo is an old one; because if it isn't, why s16d0hould he be expected to promote something that obviously hasn't worked?! wink.gif laugh.gif

(Just to make it clear for the over-sensitive; the above remark was a rather obvious attempt at humour, only No genuine insult to those who are of a larger size was intended ! smile.gif)

Re: They're trying to sue him???

he gained some weight back because of his weakness for alcohol. Not because pills did not work.

Re: They're trying to sue him???

Unlike in the UK, we have freedom of speech. The US government doesn't dictate what speech is acceptable and what's not.

Re: They're trying to sue him???

Oh my oh my, i love it when the Brits criticize the Us. Why ru so obsessed with us? And how can u criticize us when u still have this old and ugly Queen?
Now ur gonna say that the Queen's role is non existent
BUT if that was true, then why would she be there to begin with? U know, she's there because through her presence a clear message is sent to the british populace:that they will stay in the social class they were born. I wanna be honest regarding my feelings towards britain. Its people come across as the most bitter, snob(false sense of superiority, fake and reserved i've ever met. Ok, a few Americans have conservative views, but at least they speak their minds, and this is something i value more than anything. On the other hand, Brits consider speaking your mind as a flaw. U all wear the same suits as school students, all houses look like one another-i understand very clearly why that misery reeks out of everything british.
The british society is way more conservative in a more profound sense. America is more against gays, but if u judge a country solely on its view towards gays, then good for you

Alright, here are a few phrases that the government DOES dictate as unacceptable here in the US, and will get you sent to gantanamo bay:

"I have a bomb"
"Kill the president"
"I am a terrorist"
"I support Al Quada"

also try using the N word, swearing at someone or anything else like that and you will find yourself in serious trouble. This is not a free country, in fact it is much closer to a police state at times.

Re: They're trying to sue him???

Smart move. "They" also monitor Internet postings, so based on your writings the next sound you hear should be the feds knocking down your door.

LOL
