Joseph R. Gannascoli : Why does he walk with a limp?

was he in an accident or something, or does he just walk that way because he was so overweight

Because of eating all those ''Johnny Cakes''.

He is not, he just plays one on TV.

I know in season 6a he mentions how he is going to be getting a hip replacement and I thought maybe he had one BEFORE they shot season 6a which is why he is limping because he was healing, but then I read somewhere or maybe heard him on a talk show during that season saying that he limped so much because he was in EXTREME pain. He couldn't have hip replacement surgery until AFTER they finished shooting because of the long recovery time. Most people have either their left or right hip replaced, but he needed BOTH replaced so recovery time was MONTHS vs. weeks. Poor, Joseph.

I'm sure the scene of him in the motel on the floor on his knees in front of Phil was painful. Getting up and down from a floor position uses a LOT of hip muscles. I'm sure he was popping vicodin or percoset during filming.

And Joseph didn't seem to have that limp in season 5. It seemed to show up in season 6. He did a good job acting for being in pain but not showing it. If it were me, I'd be crying like a baby, begging for all my scenes to be on a sofa or hospital bed. LOL

double hip replacement surgery. Geesh, I know what it's like to have one knee replaced in surgery. i can't imagine the pain & torture & therapy from double hip surgery. Joey absolutely knows how to mask his pain.

Probably from being fisted no lube , method style.
