American Horror Story : Why so serious?

Why so serious?

I enjoyed this season. I liked spotting all the homages, there were quite a few. I think the whole show was an homage and I think that was the point. If you didn't get that then you probably wouldn't think the season was great.

It wasn't like the usual character study series we've had in past seasons. We didn't really get a chance to fall in love or loathe all our favorite reoccurring actor's characters because it wasn't really about the characters per se. It was about the genre and the horror culture these days.

Bravo, I say.

Unfortunately, only about 10% or so of this forum will actually understand and appreciate this amazing post.

Just know I loved reading it.

Less than forget. But more than begun.

Re: Why so serious?

I thought it was great. I was particularly impressed with the little girl who played
Flora.

Me too... both of them.

Remember me?

Re: Why so serious?

By current horror culture, do you mean found footage and ghosts?

Re: Why so serious?

It was a character study of American media and how desperate people can be for money.

Returning to a death trap, anyone?

I certainly didn't like Lee cause she got off with murder, twice.

me.

Re: Why so serious?

But she also literally gave her life so her daughter could live and have one.

Was it enough redemption?

Re: Why so serious?

No, she never showed remorse for what she did. She killed Mason and burned his body!

Re: Why so serious?

Did he really abuse her? Who's to say she didn't make that up to make him look bad?

I'm not condoning domestic violence in any way, shape, or form. Lee was a liar and lied on more than one occasion.

I think her "sacrificing" herself was a cop out. She didn't want to go to jail or accept the consequences of reality.

Aside from Mason, she straight up murdered other people and then wrote a book and got paid for all her infamy. That right there also makes me think she had no remorse about any of the killings.

me.

Re: Why so serious?

Guess I'll have to rewatch the series again. I get your point about having no remorse killing her abuser.

That's a good analysis. But I don't think the show was that clever

If I don't reply, you're probably on my ignore list for something I forgot already

Re: Why so serious?

See that was my problem with this season. I really hate documentary, found footage, and reality type shows and movies so this just wasn't the season for me. I did watch it all though as an AHS series fan.

Thorakus,

"I really hate documentary, found footage, and reality type shows and movies so this just wasn't the season for me. I did watch it all though as an AHS series fan."

that's EXACTLY how i feel as well.

Re: Why so serious?

Not a lot of people, I notice, are capable of evaluating something based on artistic merit.

I, for one, loved this season. I'll admit I wasn't sure where they were going with all this episodes 6 and onward, but they handled the finale masterfully, and everything fell into place.
