Re: He is bi sexual?

As much as I've indulged in taking the mick out of Gerry to the outrage of his fans online, I can't honestly sa5b4y I see him as gay or bi. He seems straight to me. Not that being gay or bi is in anyway inferior to being straight. I just know some of his fans get a bit huffy when the subject is brought up. Many of them see it as an insult, which it certainly is not.

It's funny that people worry so much about a movie star's sexual orientation though. I can't see why it matters. Their entire profession is pretending to be other people, so it's not like Gerard Butler's sexual orientation has any impact on his acting and/or his fans.

I love it when actors/celebrities have fun with their sexuality. I find that level of security and confidence very attractive.

Alexander Skarsgard has no fear about it:

Re: He is bi sexual?

Awww Alexander is such a sweetie, not bad as Tarzan either. I can just imagine that exchange with Graham Norton LOL.

I agree that Gerry's sexuality is totally his own business. Why should anyone care really? I've been a fan for a long time and think he does have a certain appeal, but I guess at this stage I'm looking for better acting and characterization from him in his movie work. Honestly, did Gerry ever seem overly successful as a romantic star? I thought, for whatever reason, he mostly seemed a bit uncomfortable and unconvincing in love scenes.

Re: He is bi sexual?

He IS a sweetie. I like how he's kind of a doofus, yet an extremely attractive one. I never paid attention to him until I got bored one night and decided to try True Blood out on Amazon Prime. I binged SIX seasons because of him! The final season wasn't free and I didn't care enough to pay for it, but I did pay to rent Tarzan from Amazon. It was okay. He was yummy, but a pretty forgettable movie overall, IMO. I hope he does well in the future.

I meant to respond to this earlier. I agree. He always looks awkward, which is one of the reasons these rumors persist.

Re: He is bi sexual?

I always figured that was just his general insecurity. All of his acting, to me, has that awkward/uncomfortable/unconvincing vibe to it, love scenes included. Like he's thinking too much or trying too hard or something.

Re: He is bi sexual?

Sirius,

like he's "trying to hard" - I had to laugh.
Could be a description of me acting, I think that's what every actor fears most, and then ironically that's exactly what happens. Because you're trying so hard to look natural, you just don't, you know what I mean.

I think Gerry's best romantic performances came with Lena Heady in 300, I totally bought their relationship and she's his Queen he cries out for at end, so it really had to work.

And the guilty yearning in Dear Frankie worked for me. His chauvinistic turn in Attila, where it's like his harem, and he's lusting for the redheaded woman who is going to poison him,111c I liked that one too.

Gerry is better if his role is sort of big and bizarre, even in the romantic territory.

He just can't pull off everyday jo-blo guy that easily. Like Keanu in some ways. Keanu really stands out to me on screen, sometimes it's like he's in his own movie!

In the rom-com movie with Jack Nicholson, Keanu's presence as a romantic doctor into an older woman almost upstaged his two older co-stars. It was like, "look, he's here" when he came on screen. I loved it, but some might call it "overplaying it."

Keanu played a dentist to a teen in an indie film I saw and he's good but he's this weird new age dentist, asking the teen "what is your spirit animal?"
I mean Keanu could not play a regular, boring, realistic dentist talking about cavities and brushing your teeth and be believable, IMO.

I'd actually love to see Gerry in a "big" romantic drama that plays to his strengths, but I don't see that on the horizon. A romantic-action drama.

If the only romance he has in his movie future is with a snow pony, it could be worse.

Buy I do think there needs to be more WOMEN CHARACTERS in Gerry's movies.
He'll end up doing all bro-flicks, or movies where the female characters are just convenient bookmarks - the wife, the girlfriend, blah blah.
Could there be a WOMAN on the 7-man Snow Pony team?

Best to all,
KB

I agree, KeepersBurns. I'm one of the few people who thought he was good in Nim's Island, for that very reason. Better as the children's book character than as the normal dad. He just isn't natural.
He does better in larger-than-life stuff like 300. If he was twenty years younger, he'd probably have made a good Gaston in the new Beauty and the Beast.

Re: He is bi sexual?

Agreed, Gerry would make a great Gaston, or any sort of "beast"/misunderstood antihero character! someone write an older man vehicle for him.

He'd also be good in a John Wick2 quiet enigmatic assassin. Gerry could just grunt, as Tom Hardy does all thru "Taboo" on FX which serves him up for a great acting job.

I loved Nim's Island. It was just different. And he was just a DAD, but a smart eccentric scientist Dad who gets in trouble, which I thought suited him. He also Jodie Foster's writer character creating an Adventure Hero flying their helicopter and being daring and outlandish as her alter-ego.

Gerry faulted his performance in Nim's during an interview about roles he thought he could've done better in said he could not make Nim's the Romantic role it was supposed to be since the actress wouldn't give him anything back (his co-star Jodie Foster - I remember they walk together on beach at end, like a romance of their characters was meant in the script, but it looks like friends only on their romantic beach walk).

Apparently, Gerry tried on that one to make it more romantic, but Jodie was not willing. It was a children's movie. But a PG romance between the shut-in writer and the single Dad would've been sweet for the adults. It was left "up in the air" at end. At least Gerry can't be blamed for missing the romantic gear on that one since his co-star didn't want to do it.

I think few have seen NIM'S ISLAND? No one ever discusses it A good unusual role.

I really can't see Butler essaying a John Wick sort of character. I saw Wick 2 yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Reeves has created another iconic character without trying to create one which is a pretty tough thing to do.

I am very much enjoying Taboo with Hardy and find him , once more, portraying a compelling individual

Den of Thieves which Butler is currently filming might give him the opportunity to be a totally unredeemable bas****

My nephew and I watched Nim's a few years ago and upon first view we liked it, so much so I purchased it. A few months later when we rewatched it, my nephew didn't find it nearly as charming.

of that I didn't know. Wonder why Foster didn't want to act "romantic" against Butler? The scene was awkward to put it mildly and I do recall some critic saying hiring Foster as Butler's love interest probably earned the casting agent the loss of one's job. It did remind me of Heche being stranded with Ford in 6 days, 7 nights. Totally unconvincing in both instances.

Re: He is bi sexual?

Hi Annie,

I sent you an email several hours ago please reply so I know you got it and I got your email right. It might be in your Junk folder??

I hope Den of Thieves is good - unredeemable badasses have a special place in my heart, but you need the "sad eyes" of Keanu Reeves to really carry this off! If you're too cocky a badass, you can become vile, so here's hoping the Den has some emotional turmoil in it like Wick's dead wife he loved who had gotten him out of the life. Flashbacks do the job nicely. But the body count, and shots to the head, could make this man repugnant, but it is all self-defense since they're all after him, so he's just a great anti-hero you must root for to live. When Keanu looks around at people and starts running at the end ("you have 1 hour") that was great!

I remember Heche and Harrison that was the worst! Esp. because the premise of movie was solely romantic, stranded on an island together there is a romance. I've wanted to write an island romance movie, but if Hwood gave me that casting I'd ask John Wick to drive a pencil through my head!! And their age difference really got to people and I was glad somebody objected to it. I think Hwood does that less now, actually casting actresses in their 40's and 50's more often esp. because Big Stars like Sandra Bullock are 50+.

Well, email me back, or let me know here if you didn't get the email.

Best,
Kimberly

did receieve it and responded late last night

it was! I don't know if there will be another Wick story to tell (I liked the ambiguity at the end. Will he survive? Will someone go against the Continental's excommunication of John and help him? Will he be forced to go underground? )It's being speculated there will be but until Reeves confirms, I'm happy with these two chapters

It seems Butler will be married in DOT, so he might be an antihero at day's end.

Re: He is bi sexual?

I'm calling fake news on that. Jodie Foster is gay, but she could easily be convincing if she cared. As has been mentioned earlier, it is GB who seems awkward in romantic scenes. Blaming Jodie is not cool. I'm not sure why an actress with her talent chose such a mediocre role. Gerry was like a bad Indiana Jones imitation.

Children's movie or not, he swore repeatedly during the filming and had to pay Abigal each time he did. He also made some inappropriate remarks during the promotions with the cast. That was the last of his films I watched in a theater. Even kids didn't like the film.

Re: He is bi sexual?

Canberry,

Not fake news, look it up, it's in an interview. This is not gossip.

Everyone knows Jodie Foster is gay, but that's beside the point.

If Jodie didn't want to make her character role romantic, that was her choice. Jodie might have felt the movie stood better without the romantic finish which is of course, very predictable. The independent woman who doesn't HAVE to fall in love with the hunk at the end is a strong, more feminist choice. I think it was the actress' conscious choice and a bold one. Unfortunately, that choice didn't work out creatively or financially, the ending falling flat. The chemistry was lacking when the two of them come together at the end and audience expects a romantic chemistry. It comes back to the script. I believe the two actors disagreed on how to handle these scenes, which are called "creative differences" and happens all the time between actors.

On "Blaming Jodie" sorry but "Blaming Jodie" can happen, just like "Blaming Gerry" happens. Any actor is not above being blamed for poor performance or lackluster chemistry or a bad choice they make in a film. They have to live with it, the movie the audience and its' reviews has to live with it. I like Jodie and Gerry both in Nim's, but the ending didn't work. My Mom and I both enjoyed, just fun and frivolous. It's based on a book by a writer I like, so I'm glad it got made.

I already described the movies Gerry was good in romantically, IMO, so I don't go with a blanket verdict on that.

I'm glad Abigail Breslin made a bundle off her swear jar, she's a smart cookie and a fine actress. I hope she gets some better roles, or something I can see. Haylee Stenifeld and Anja Taylor-Joy(SPLIT, WITCH) seem to have all the young hot actress mojo now. ANYA is really amazing in SPLIT opposite James McAvoy who gets to show HUGE talent in his split personality roles.

btw Where is Abigail? Anyone see a good movie with her lately?

Link? And even if he said it, it doesn't make it true.

Not really. Faking is harder for some than others.

Re: He is bi sexual?

Canberry,

You may scour for the interview yourself in your idle hours when you are not making homophobic remarks about actors.

You strike me as the person who only believes what comes out of your own mouth.

Not unlike POTUS.

Re: He is bi sexual?

lol. Good one. I do wonder why barb is here with her so very bad comments about Gerry. People like her shouldn't be on this board. People like her make these boards toxic.

I haven't written much on this board, but I have been here reading since forever, and not to sound harsh, but Barb, why keep up writing crap about actors. It's really not nice.

Re: He is bi sexual?

Oh, and for the record, as I remember it, Gerry was blaming both of them, himself and his acting partner, for their problem lack of chemistry when you're acting together that's how it is, it is a shared responsibility.

And a poor choice was made by both in not discussing their alternate views of the romantic ending and roles before accepting them.

But I believe Foster's choice to play it non-romantic fit her priority as an actress and she is the Oscar actress headlining Nim's but her choice was bad for the film overall.

As to why Foster would do the project, she has children and Nim's is an important children's book for many, maybe for her own children even.

Re: He is bi sexual?

I'm calling fake news on that.

LOL! This made me chuckle.

I'm trying to remember if I ever watched Nim's Island. I think I saw clips, but never the whole movie. I was already off Gerry by the time it came around, and it didn't interest me enough to make the effort.

I do remember that promotional thing when he's asked something like what his favorite thing in the world is (or som5b4ething along those lines) and he said really good sex.

It'd be funny if after IMDb boards close down, Gerry Butler finally turns in a great acting performance, earns high esteem among critics, and starts raking in Academy Awards on a regular basis.

Where will people talk about it? Just Jared? That Russian place?

Bi

He is bi

I sure

Fans are interrested in this.

Re: Bi

No he is not. Jonma. Just leave the board. Thanks..It's people like you, that might have been one of the reasons IMDB has chosen to shut down these message boards. Too many scammers, trolls, and hateful people. It's a shame really.

It's no one's business what people are in private. Anyway.

Re: Bi

If only he were. That would at least be interesting to talk about.

I'm afraid he's not though. He's boringly hetero.

Appropriate that his IMDb message board should spend its last days debating his sexuality though. It's been a sensitive topic for many years. I've never seen him as gay or bi, though. He's just notcool enough. LOL.

Ok

Go and let yourwelf *beep*..you silly cow.You need it.

Its obvious he is bi.
Why not? Homophob?

Re: Ok

lol.

You seem to be a bit immature. How nice. :)
