Some kind of after-action report would have to be done, the Army being the Army
So some divisional or regimental functionary would have taken LT. Dans report but would also have interviewed Forrest, and the other survivors, The guys Forest carried out
It wouldn't have been based on just LT. Dans report, he was seriously wounded himself
It would then have gotten signatures from all the commanders above Lt' Dan ( he may not have recommended it), so his Capt in charge of the company, a Major, a Lt. Col, A full Col. then a couple of Generals and finally the Armed Services committee in both houses of congress
It's NOT a speedy process
You don't have to stand tall, but you do have to stand up!
