as in the movies?

I spoke to someone who worked at Reed College, and he said the movie paled in comparison to the actual school. He also said it was not uncommon to turn around and see someone standing completely naked and high as a kite.

Oh get off of itthe movie is about one guy's search for Godit dosen't go out of its way to put down Christianity or any other religion. And I don't know what the hell does a school becoming more liberal has to do with it. Hell, I'm liberal and I practically grew up in a Baptist church (even though I wouldn't have called myself liberal then because I didn't know what it meant, or what being conservative meant eitherI was a child then.)

I went to Ohio State from 2005-2009 and there are over 800 different clubs at that school alone, including all kinds of religious groups - many of them Christian. I was a member of the largest one (hundreds of members) and loved it, for the most part. You can't generalize colleges like that

Those are views specifically held by the Democratic party. Views I happen to agree with, but they're not necessarily a part of the wider definition of 'liberal'. Being politically liberal means putting a large emphasis on political and civil rights, and using the government as a tool to aid education, healthcare and poverty.

Jesus advocated deviations from the teaching of the Bible, condemned the accumulation of wealth, preached the withholding of judgment on people who were different (like gay people), and advocated charity and even taxes.

So, you know, he kinda was.

I missed the part where your imaginary "liberals" advocate not working. But then, I live in the real world, not in your head.

As for gay marriage, liberals don't advocate for it - they simply say it should be allowed. That is not the same as "advocating" for it; you need to look up the definition of the word.

Same with abortions. No liberal I know advocates for abortion. They simply say it is up to the people involved to make such a decision; not them, not you, certainly not any religious organization.

So, while you're at it, you should look up the definition of "liberal", too. You've been misled as to what it means.

Apparently you've never read the Bible, either, because Jesus can't be pigeonholed as liberal or conservative. What he advocated was repentence from sin and living righteously before God, and he wasn't always nice about it. To call him a "liberal" is to miss the entire point of his message.

Jesus didn't exist. He's a fictional character. Religion does not have a place in schools

It's all been one big downhill ride since the dawn of the Enlightenment. Let's bring back the Inquisition and get civilization back on track.

It's more like the city of Portland itself is like this. I don't see the use of a Reed college education as it is expensive and really doesn't provide much value. You can get involved in the craziness of the city without attending any University, and I imagine it is easy to get in on the action as a non-student.

The one thing I didn't like, although it may be true at Reed, is that I've never been treated anything less than civil in the city, regardless of how clean cut I've been dressed. It is the nicest and weirdest big city I have ever been in. I love the place and the people, other than the rain. As long as you aren't preachy and obnoxious, I don't see being Christian as a problem here.

BTW - The real reason most Portlanders don't carry umbrellas is that they are usually worthless in the rain forest weather.
