The View : Where's the GOP outrage?
Re: Where's the GOP outrage?
Where's the outrage by Republicans with Trump? No one has called him a dictator, no one said he's abusing power, no one said he should not be doing this - not here, not in the conservative media, and not in Congress. What happened?
You know on this board they keep talking about what a "great job" he is doing. I have a sneaking suspicion that's the default answer.
Reporter: President Trump just raised your taxes 40%. How do you think he's doing now?
Trump Supporter: Well, my house has gone into foreclosure and my car was just repossessed, but ignore that, he's doing a great job!!

One reason -they're cowards. The other reason- they agree with him but don't want to say it to a camera. World leaders have come out against Trump even though many of their constituents don't agree.

Re: Where's the GOP outrage?
mojo, both your #1 and #2 reasons reveal them to be cowards.
I agree that even if many of them are alarmed they're not going to show it or speak out against it. Sadly in this win or die/never compromise culture which the Tea Party helped usher in, to be the least bit introspective, contemplative, or cooperative is viewed as a weaknessnot the strength that it truly is.
Trump panders to a nihilistic faction within the Republican party who hasn't a clue as to what they'll put into place after they're through blowing things up.
Another reason why we're not seeing the "outrage" is that, for however distasteful some core Republicans view Trump, he serves their purposeto a point. They're content to use him as Putin did. But there will inevitably be a straw which breaks the camel's back at some point down the road. He'll then become less "convenient", viewed more as a liability, and pose less of a political risk to question, deal with, or attempt to expunge.

Re: Where's the GOP outrage?
Too many executive orders by either president is not good. However, unless the Democrats were outraged by Obama's first week executive orders, then they have no right to expect Republicans to be outraged by Trumps actions. And I'm pretty sure Democrats had no problem with Obama in his first week as president. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sure they do. They never said a President shouldn't have the power to use EO - not when Obama was President, nor when Dubya was President. They let the President do what he saw fit. It was the Republicans who pulled a hissy fit over Obama (who issued less EOs than his predecessors).
For the past 8 years, Republicans believed that a President should not resort to executive orders - that's a dictatorship, they said. "Abuse of power! Totalitarian governance!" they warned.
Democrats listened to their outrage and believed this is how they truly felt. Now's their chance to go after their own leader and set him straight early on in his Presidency, for we wouldn't want a dictator or a President abusing his power, and there's silence. Dead silence.
Could it be Republicans are all just a bunch of hypocrites?

Re: Where's the GOP outrage?
My point is that BOTH sides are hypocrites. You can deflect all you want, but that is the truth.
Re: Where's the GOP outrage?
Got to ask does anyone see a correlation with Supreme Court Citizens United ruling:dark money=more EO?

Re: Where's the GOP outrage?
Is it Trump's fault that Obama decided to try to complete the task of "fundamentally changing America" by issuing a crapload of last minute EO's or midnight regulations before he left office?
And it's to his credit that he's attempting to right the ship now, instead of waiting until he's leaving office. Better to make such decisions when you'll still be around to take the heat for it, instead of in the cowardly fashion of his predecessor.

Republicans believed using the power of EO was an abuse of power, and a dictatorship - whether it's in the first hour of your Presidency or the last hour of your Presidency. Use = abuse, according to themso your nonsense doesn't fly.

What Trump did was entirely legal, pvd.
Re: Where's the GOP outrage?
Pvd the hypocrite looking for objectivity. That's funny
Re: Where's the GOP outrage?
And the alternate facts just keep on rolling with the republicans! There's no stopping them.
