This isnt simply a matter of Republican versus Democratic. This is a man who, on record and often on video, disparaged or outright ridiculed women, immigrants, the disabled and others. He lost the popular vote by nearly three million votes, and yet cannot seem to grasp that the presidents obligation is to at very least attempt to unite and respect all Americans.

I think the whole idea of him running for President and winning is to stay at least one full term in the WH. And you ask 'do you blame him' ???

Gerrymandering has little effect on presidential or national Senate races, so far as I know. Or on how the electoral college chooses our presidents.

And was far less a factor imo than Democrats like to claim. They should, however, take a good look at their senseless march to embrace those in major cities while all but ignoring rural voters. And their rush to use identity politics to try to draw in as many kinds of constituencies as possible, not pausing to realize that in courting some fringe groups they were beginning to alienate more traditional voters.

Concerning President Trump and the GOP, they have a bit of a problem. He has a faithful following that likely would not stand for his being ousted - even, unfortunately, in cases in which it is warranted. Republicans know that they can't afford to alienate those voters, unless they can justify convincingly why he needs to be dealt with.

Not that Ryan and McConnell haven't, as you say, considered contingency plans in case he does commit a significant breach of office.
