Girls : Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
She's the one trolling all these idiots who piss and moan that LD's naked body is shown - "How dare she take her clothes off without first obsessing over, then slaving for her body, for the privilege of being on my tv". ALL people seem to believe that the sole purpose in life is to titillate the opposite sex.
I haven't loved every moment of Girls but I do like what LD does, challenging the status quo.
And I agree, fat-shaming is the last acceptable bigotry. It's depressing how nasty people are regarding it. They're nearly always hiding behind a keyboard though. Funny thing is, I don't see her as unattractive at all.

Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
I haven't "loved every moment" either. I do think her character is kind of clueless and awkward but endearing nonetheless and I think that is the point.
I love that she just puts it out there to say "hey yeah, not perfect" still have sex don't mind showing my bodyso say whatever you want!!!
There is far too much pain in this world stemming from women who feel unless they live up to some ridiculous unattainable ideal standard that only a tiny percentage of the population falls into (men AND women) that they are somehow not worthy.
Those who don't want to see her body don't have to watch. I don't think it's good OR bad. it's just a woman who has sex.

Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
When I have genital warts, I will be sure to put it out there because it's so brave to show people digusting images.
Take a poll, do people want to see Hannah nude or Jessa nude?
Neither are thin. Everyone will say Jessa because she is attractive. Not skinny, yet attractive.

Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
She's not showing "genital warts". She's showing her body.
You don't need a poll. She doesn't have to be beautiful OR thin to be nude on tv.

Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
Her body is as disgusting as genital warts.

Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
I think the second half of your post is why she gets trolled so much. Hannah is sloppy and crude. If she were classier, people wouldn't Down her as much, but I agree people fat shame for no reason.
Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
you're prob right and I agree.
Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
I don't mind her being fat. What I mind, is her having no class. She just asks for these kinds of remarks.
Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
Marco I actually agree. While I really do applaud her bravery knowing that she will most certainly expose herself to criticism if she's ok with that it seems the vulgarity is an attention grab in part so she can say "see how people are so critical of women's bodies" whereas the real thing people are put off by is getting stinking drunk, puking, pouring booze all over yourself and just acting like it's your first week in college.
Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
I agree, she can do whatever the hell she wants. While still being aware that she might not get people's validation. Personally, I don't like girls like her. Those who act as if they have a great body, or something. It maybe therapeutic to them, in a way, it helps them cope with their complex (because they are full of it, and acting like that, is just a shield against the world. Not a sign of bravery). But to people outside their brains and logic. It's just sad and pathetic. Wishful thinking at its worst

Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
Who gives a *beep* is she's classy or not? This isn't Downton Abbey.
I prefer people who don't care about other people's perception on then than those who worry about being "classy"

Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
Then you're just self absorbed.
Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
That's fine, but they you can't complain when people find you disgusting. If she doesn't care, then more power to her. I'm only saying Hannah (not Lena, I don't know anything about her private life) is fully gross and when there's a character acting like that, don't be surprised when people call them out on it. As for her body, I mean, that's a stupid reason to make fun of her.
Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
Except not.
The new last acceptable bigotry is being any religious follower.

Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
So true
Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
The more she winds (conservative) people up the more I love her.
Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
This has nothing to do with being conservative. But more about seeing through her *beep* People who are like Hannah/Lena, are the ones who fear of being judged, the most. Like a kid saying fvck you to their parents approval. When it's the thing they crave the most.

Bingo!
Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
She doesn't have a great body because she's too lazy to get her ass in a gym somewhere. A couple gallons of makeup wouldn't hurt either.
Re: Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
Hannah is just a fat nasty sloppy a$$ bish.
There are plenty of overweight women who carry themselves well and look awesome while they do it, whether they are nude or not. Lena Dunham's image is "fat and sloppy" so I don't blame anyone for calling her fat and sloppy.

Fat Shaming the Last Acceptable Bigotry
I realize through the media we are bombarded with images of how women are SUPPOSED to look and anything that deviates from this is deemed unacceptable. This is absurd. The majority of people in the world have bodies like her or way way bigger. Big deal!!!
Though I think her character is a bit vulgar (getting slopping as hell drunk pouring booze all over herself and then vomiting in bed) I give her major major kudos for not being afraid to put it out there. I'm SURE she knows she will be mocked, trolledbut she does it anyhow. Bravo!!! Bravo to all those who are not perfect. And yes if you were going to slam ME I'll beat you to the punch. Yes, i'm a little overweight too and not embarrassed!
