Everybody Loves Raymond : Family photo episode

Family photo episode

Was Debra wrong to have her parents part of the photo? I think so. It was supposed to be a barone family photo and she didn't even run it past anybody

Re: Family photo episode

Her revenge was immature. But since Marie nor Ray cared about doing anything she wanted for Xmas, she just said screw it, and did what she wanted without them. So not right, but understandable. Debra didn't wanna do the picture. Ray wanted to please mommy. So she said fine. Debra wanted to do something different for Xmas where she could see her parents. Marie didn't like it. Again, Ray wanted to please mommy, so he sided with her.

A classic case of putting yourself 1st when nobody else seems to.

So I had no problems with what Debra did. And I enjoyed it because for once, Marie wasn't getting her way. And 2, because now Ray goes through what Debra does constantly -dealing with the annoying family who's never happy, and a spouse who doesn't want to help you. This made it one of my favorite episodes. lol

Re: Family photo episode

oh my gosh, SilverWolf442. You analysis was so spot on. I agree with everything you said!

Re: Family photo episode

Yes, I thought the same thing. I also agree!

Re: Family photo episode

Spot on, SilverWolf. And it was hilarious when Robert started mocking Ray and even Allie was choking back laughter.

Re: Family photo episode

Yes. It was immature, but so much fun to watch. After years of insults and manipulation, Marie gets hers. How fun it must be for Debra to look at her family on the same fotografía with the Barones. It's probably what keeps her marriage and life going.

Re: Family photo episode

I thought it was very immature and wrong of Debra to invite her parents, she knew full well that it was a Barone family picture for Marie's Xmas Gift.

However, I can't blaim her one little bit.

Marie was so dismissive of Debra's idea and wouldn't even compromise with her. Ray was spineless as always.

She has every right to see her parents during the holidays and if none of the Barones were willing to let her do that....,she went out and made it happen in a different way. Fair play to her.

Re: Family photo episode

Maybe she should have ran it, but to her they are her real family

Re: Family photo episode

Very funny episode but kind of stupid at the same time. Since the whole family was there they could easily have had several sittings and made everyone happy...photo with just the Barones, photo w Debra's parents and a photo with the whole bunch together, problem solved, everybody happy.

Re: Family photo episode

A normal family would do that but we are talking about the Barones 😆

Re: Family photo episode

Not to mention that would be a problem for Marie as well, knowing her.

She'd complain about how a family photo was her idea and gift, so Debra shouldn't be stealing it to have her own separate photo, because it should just be for her, personally, and not her son giving the same gift to Debra.

We all know Marie is that petty.

Re: Family photo episode

Pat was spot on when she called Marie narcissistic. Who would argue with that?

Re: Family photo episode

Naturally Marie would argue. After all Everything she does "comes from love", as she says.

She just neglects to mention it comes from a love of herself, rather than her family. lol

And to a lesser extent, Ray is the same way. As Debra says, he thinks everything is about him in some way. And if it's not about him, he'll find a way to make it about himself. lol

Re: Family photo episode

What makes me laugh is that when Robert comes into a scene and people stop talking he asks, "is it about me?". It's not but wouldn't you think he'd be happy if they were talking about him for a change.

I'm just sitting down to my brekkie, SilverWolf442, are you in my area or just being a night owl? 🤓

Re: Family photo episode

Robert is a contradiction. He just likes to be able to complain, which is what Debra told him twice. He always complains people don't pay him any attention, and how nobody cares about him. But when someone tries to help him, or give constructive criticism that may help, he gets an attitude and takes offense.

Just 2 examples, to avoid a long post.

1. Amy is worried about his chin-habit, because she thinks it means he's stressed. He tells her she's bugging him, that she eats like a beaver, and walks like a retard -then he storms out of the house, saying he's going to his parents'. And she loves him, and was genuinely trying to help. Then he gets on to Ray and Debra for talking to Amy, saying they both think they're perfect.

2. He asks for help to practice teaching his driving class. And he showed why he's not popular with the class. The family try to get him to lighten up and have fun, and he gets mad and storms out. Then comes back with Timmy and insults everyone.

And we're probably not in the same time-zone. It's only 6:30 where I am.

Re: Family photo episode

Coming up to 10am, Sydney time.

Re: Family photo episode

The entire episode kind of got on my nerves because the entire time I'm just thinking, take ONE photo with Debra's parents and ONE without. There can still be a Barone only photo.

Re: Family photo episode

This is truly one of my favorite episodes just because we all know the simple solution and no one on camera does. I especially love the line about the pashminas and how Debra and her mom wear the blanket like scarf across their shoulders, ridiculous. To me, this episode is the one that most closely resembles the few times in thirty years that my parents and in-laws were together in one room, even though we never had a group picture taken.

Re: Family photo episode

Interesting that there's a similar Christmas picture-taking episode on The Middle!
