Urban Legend : Who did you think the killer is?

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I thought it was Sahsa right at the beginning wehn she was in the library and saw the "Aren't you glad you didn't turn on the lights"picture in the book and then the goth chick died right after that. But as soon as she was being chased i had a feeling it was Brenda.

Ker-Splat!

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

i knew it was brenda from the moment i saw her nd the way she was

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I thought it was either Paul or Wexler. But when I think about it they were too obvious. I was really surprised it was Brenda though, I never even suspected her. I'm usually pretty good, too.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

Hahaha...

I JUST got done watching this for the first time in years!

But I was only about 12 when this first came out...and it scared the living sh!t out of me!!!

Anyways, I remember when it first came out the ONLY reason I watched it was because Joshua Jackson was in it...(I had the BIGGEST crush on him and was obsessed with Dawson's Creek...)

Anyways at first I thought it was Damon, then I thought it was Paul...I would have NEVER guessed it was Brenda...(cut me some slack though, I was too young to notice the obvious I guess...)

But now I obviously know what to look for in horror movies, haha.

It's always the one you'd least/never suspect.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I saw this movie when I was, like, 12, so I wasn't really sure who the killer was, but I did know that the killer had some kind of connection to that guy that had been run off the road by Nat+Friend.

My Mind Isn't A Very Pleasent Place To Be

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I don't remember. I saw this movie for the first time a loooong time ago, and I recently bought it from a video store because it was only 3 dollars and I remembered that Brenda was the killer. However, my older sister had never seen it and she told me she thought it was Freddy Krueger in the beginning and then after a while, she thought it was Paul.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I saw this movie in theaters with my sister and cousin. Right away when Natalie told the story of David's death I thought it was Paul or Brenda. I thought that maybe David was related to them or something. Towards the end it made more sense since he was Brenda's fiancee for her to flip out. It did seem in the flashback scenes that Michelle wasn't remorseful for David's death and I can't remember but in the movie did Natalie say they were legally held responsible for the death. I think probably in a situation like David's death the family of the victim would want the perps to pay.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I don't know why people keep on saying "Oh, it's the least obvious person who turns out to be the killer!" statement.

*MAJOR SPOILERS FOR DIFFERENT MOVIE*

Billy Loomis was the person who was suspected the whole time by the police and the public, and yet the audience didn't think it was him once he appeared at the window seconds after the killer had left. But, it turned out in the end that he was ONE of the two killers. See?

"Holy crip, it's a crapple!" - Peter Griffin, Family Guy.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I knew it wasn't Wexler as soon as peple started sayin he was the killer. It never is the person they think it is. I first realised Brenda was the killer when she hugged the main girl(cant remember her name now) in the car before they find Wexler's body. No idea why. Just something about her eyes.
Did that happen to anyone else?
The actress did a great job - keeping her normal and then spazzing out at the end.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

Thank you! I was wondering the same thing-except I knew it was Billy in Scream I mean good grief just look at him: creepy shifty eyes, low voice, mommy issues oh yeah he screamed killer and yet I was the only person who knew and noticed that when he was "attacked" in the bedroom scene his shirt wasn't torn just red

As for Urban Legends I didn't have a clue as to who the killer was but looking back on it now you can sort of see clues as to who the killer was (bringing it back to scream at the infamous fountain scene when Stu's all "well I don't kill anyone" Billy goes "no one said you did" and gives him this "stfu" look that again didn't notice before but do now)

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

It was obviously not Paul, because...
In almost every horror movie, the guy who seems to be the killer
is always innocent.
I suspected the janitor, but never fully.
I thought it was going to be some random third person...
Like in I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

AMDG

It took me about half of the movie to figure out that it was Brenda. Before that, I suspected Paul. =S

The only connection among all the deaths was Natalie (well, except where the Dean was concerned), so I realised the killer would have to be someone close to her or someone who wanted to get close to her.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I thought it was Brenda early on... Not sure why.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I thought it was either Brenda or Reese when the phone call is made to the guy who's throwing the party. When I heard the caller, I thought to myself: "That sounds like a girl disguising her voice". It just sounded like a girl to me, and at that point Reese and Brenda just seemed the most likely candidates. And then Reese slipped in that pool of blood and started to freak, and I thought "Well, I guess that rules her out."

I'll find his coffin, steal his corpse, and hide it under my mattress to remind me that he's really dead. That'll prove I'm not insane!

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I suspected the most of them like I always do when I see films like this and Brenda was one of them, especially when she said 'and for all the involved' (or something like that) when they talked about the car accident.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

At first I thought it was Robert Englund's character who's namei believe is Dexter or Wexler but then I kinda said "I don't think so" and then I thought it was the Dean, cause he seemed to be hiding something.Like the paper etc.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

Close to the end (about 15 minutes before the "reveal) I figured it was Brenda...just for a surprise "bet you wouldn't think it was _____ " type ending.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

when they first introduced wexler i thought it was him. but then they started making it obvious it could be wexler. so then i thought it was paul. i knew it was brenda though, because, well i found out before i watched that part lmao

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

Well seems like they gave us reasons to consider anybody could be the killer, which makes for a good film. By looking at everybody's opinion, seems like everybody had different picks. I thought Wexler was the killer (surprised more people didn't), then Paul once Wexler's body was found in the trunk. I definitely didn't think Brenda until the end. Pretty good movie, surprised me.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I have never guessed that Brenda was the killer. I thought that she died on that scene with the tall grasses, of course, not until she began screaming for help at that abandoned dorm.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I first thought Paul, but then I realised how insanely bad and stupid the script really was and then I thought it could litteraly be anyone and in the end it was Brenda. Was there any explanation given at all? I more or less fast forwarded the last ten minutes, because I only wanted to know who the killer was before being able to finally stop the movie.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I never thought it would be Paul and I was sure by the time Natalie and Brenda found the body that it wasn´t him. It was too early to expose the real killer, I think (and usually, like in this film, the killer is exposed when the victim is absolutely at the killer´s mercy). Besides Paul kept shouting Natalie´s name and I couldn´t really picture the killer doing that, more like running silently and looking menacing :).

I didn´t know it was Brenda either (but I didn´t really try to guess the killer, I was more like guessing who wasn´t the killer). Didn´t suspect the janitor at first either, only when Natalie got into his truck did I become suspicious for a while (but obviously it was revealed soon after that he wasn´t the killer either). Thought it was Parker too, for a while...

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I was never sure, but in all murder movies they always have a few ppl that do or say a few things that automatically make you assume its them, so i never bother trying to guess

Lets kill all men...who's with me?

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I thought it was Paul, but then when they found Wexler's body in the trunk I KNEW it was Brenda. All credit should be given to Jared Leto. When I saw the look on Paul's face I knew. It's Brenda.

On October 24th....The SAW shall be GASMED

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I thought it was Wexler.

Why...so...serious

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

That's the mark of a good script. Whether it's a TV show or movie or a film, if there is murder involved — unless it's Columbo — it should keep the audience guessing as to whodunit. On TV, that would be similar to watching an episode of Murder She Wrote or Matlock or a Perry Mason movie.

The sequel to this movie failed in that respect because the murderer was easy to spot. I had it pegged less than halfway through the film. I won't give away the identity of the murderer but it was fairly obvious. The only question in my mind was the motive.

Many of these films get to be too formulaic in the sense that various characters get murdered for no apparent reason other than for being there. It doesn't really advance the plot but rather serves to pile up the body count. Each murder in this film served a purpose: to advance the theory of an urban legend serial killer. Obviously the killer was trying to plan a red herring as to the actual intended victims.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

Yes there was an explanation given (work with me here its been a while but I'm pretty sure this is right) Remember when Natalie was telling Brenda about her and Michelle playing the "high beams" prank on the guy and he was killed because of it? That was Brenda's fiance so good old fashioned revenge

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

You have to remember, this was 1998 just two years after Scream. In Scream they drop hints the entire time about Billy. In your mind you think it's a tired old cliche that it's "too obvious" to be him. We learn this time and time again from horror movies. Then all of the sudden Billy is the killer and it throws everyone off.

So with that in mind, in Urban Legend I always suspected the janitor. He was a "too obvious" choice but I thought they might be going with that same angle. He had been there in 1973 (we assume) when the supposed killings happened. He was spooky, he was mysterious, he was weird. So until the car crash I thought it was him for sure.

I never thought it was Brenda. However, I realized it was her once we saw the body of her lying on the bed. She was different than the others. She wasn't bleeding, she was neatly placed on the bed (a la Halloween) and as soon as Natalie turned her back on her as she lay on the bed I knew she was going to get up (very, very similar to what Michael Myers did in Halloween)

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I don't remember who I thought it was but I love movies like this and Scream that keep you guessing who the killer is.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

some friend spoiled it for me so i knew who it was. And it was really disapointing because i knew that i would of gotten the killer wrong.

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

Well I actually knew who it was, because I accidentally read a spoiler about it! But it was fun seeing my friends reaction though!

"Who knows what could happen, do what you do, just keep on laughing." - Avril Lavigne

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

Looking back, it's painfully obvious, if not earlier then at least 5 minutes before they reveal it.

After the Janitor dies it's obviously not him (not that anyone really suspects him anyway because he's such an obvious red herring), Reese is investigating as the killings are occurring so it can't be her, and everyone else is dead except for Natalie, Paul and Brenda. We know it's not Natalie so we're left with only two possible suspects, and the film gives us a good 5 minutes to realise this before they actually reveal the killer's identity.

The thing is, it's obviously NOT Paul. It seems like it's him, but they make him out to be the killer BEFORE the big reveal scene, so we know it isn't really. Yes he could be one of two killers, but I didn't expect the film to rip off Scream quite so shamelessly so this theory never really got off the ground. I distinctly remember that my 12 year old brain didn't suspect Paul one bit, even after they discovered the body in his trunk and he chased after them. I could tell they had made a mistake and he was innocent. So it HAD to be Brenda. There wasn't anyone else left!

And yet I didn't suspect her once lol. Maybe if I'd stopped and thought about it logically I'd have realised at that point that it couldn't be anyone else, but I didn't. I think her best friend status just through me off. I thought of her as the Rose McGowen or Sarah Michelle Gellar character and never suspected her. The only time it's ever been the best friend is in a Point Horror book lol.

But more recently my friend watched it and had a theory that no one else has come up with. Unlike me, she was convinced it WAS going to rip Scream off, and she suspected Damon, even after he was dead! She thought he and the other killer had staged his death early on so that he could go around killing people without ever being a suspect.

Veronica why are you pulling my dick?

Re: Who did you think the killer is?

I thought it was the guy who was killed in the accident. According to my suspicions, he didn't really die and he was getting his revenge. Or maybe I thought Paul could have been his brother, but I didn't think it was Brenda.

I assumed it was like 'I Know What You Did Last Summer', something like that.
