Wild Things : Today's 'best twist ending' poll…

Re: Today's 'best twist ending' poll…

Seems he gets no love here, but I'd say The Village.

And one I'd not seen mentioned here, Orphan.

And one of the weirdest convoluted twists, Bane.

Spoilers ahead

The twists and turns of Wild Things, and of course that magnificent ending, is very hard to beat. These that I list, in no particular order, I won't claim are better but close to it or on par, IMO anyway:

The Usual Suspects - a brilliant finish, when Kevin Spacey walks away, suddenly without a limp, the cop stands there and thinks, and suddenly it becomes clear the HE was Kayser Soze all along! Wonderful

Angel Heart - never thought that he was looking for himself all along.

The Skeleton Key - man that was a surprise! And loved it that the bad guys won for a change.

The Sixth Sense - suspected something was going on with the doctor, but didn't think he was dead.

The Prestige - never saw the cloning coming! Though the twin brother wasn't too much of shock, I was still surprised.

The Departed - two surprises, one that Costello [Nicholson] was an FBI mole for decades and two, when Dignam [Mark Wahlberg] showed up at Sullivan's [Matt Damon] apartment and shot him. Although I think Sullivan was more surprised than the audience, lol.

Inception - the twists kept piling up and even after the end one is still not completely sure.

The Ring - you get the horror ghost story about the girl, you get the normal ending i.e. the ghost's body is found, laid to rest, everyone is happy. And then she strikes! lol, loved that one

The Others - quite a twist there, though it wasn't shocking, it was a surprise to find out that Nicole Kidman and the kids are actually the dead ones, and the "ghosts" are the living.

Old Boy - I actually haven't seen this because someone told the twist before I could get to do so, but that twist sounded fantastic!

Two that are overrated IMO:

Fight Club - quite a bit of twist at the end, though I wasn't really that surprised and thought it was a bit of a copout.

Seven - if you know the seven deadly sins and their history, the end is really not that surprising, although the movie itself was good of course.

SHALLOW GRAVE!!

Re: Today's 'best twist ending' poll…

The ones that made go wtf
The Skeleton Key
The Others (got to be the most innovative ghost story)
Saw(2004) One of the best thrillers. They should never have bothered with the other 6.

'Psycho' people might not think much of it today but it was one of the very first classic twist endings

'The Hole' (2009): A lesser known film but a thrilling ride.

How about The Truman show?

Chinatown.

Wild Things had a few too many plot twists for me, although when I read the thread "all the plot questions answered" I understood more how they made sense. I'm still left wondering how Neve could trust that no one else would do her in, but I guess everyone who didn't cross her lived. Still, the Netflix version leaves out the scene in which the grandmother apparently shows someone, the female detective, I think, a scrapbook that shows Neve is related to Sandra Van Ryan. This does a lot to explain more. I think maybe that should have been left in. I don't think Wild Things did enough foreshadowing, but I was a pretty good flick which is good because it had a heavy cast to live up to, some awesome star power.

Primal Fear with Richard Gere and Edward Norton. Norton's performance won him an Oscar nomination esp due to the twisted ending.

Re: Today's 'best twist ending' poll…

Nobody mentioned Vertigo?!?

Re: Today's 'best twist ending' poll…

Sadly that only american movies are presented here....
(Asian ones are top notch twisters)

The best twist I recently saw was in the spain movie "The Body".

You will never guess the ending.
Make a game out of it.
Load up some friends, and 15 minutes before the end let everybody tell you what they think the end is, and then watch it.
