Meryl Streep : Will Meryl win another Oscar for ''Florence Foster Jenkins''?

The trailer just came out:

It looks like Meryl's delivering another stellar performance. The character screams Oscar bait too.

Of course it will depend on her competition, plus I'm not sure, with the movie coming out this May, how that will hurt her chances of a nomination.

I think its meant to be a comedic performance so i doubt she'll win. Might not even get nominated. She could be nominated or even win for best actress in a comedy at the globes though.

Iunno. I feel she'll probably win a 4th oscar before retiring/passing away but i imagine it'll be for a really significant and dramatic role.

I hope so bc she is one of the best she plays every role to the fullest

I believe nod #20 is likely in the bag, but it's a comedy, a Summer release and frankly, at this stage nominating Streep delivers more creditably to the Academy, (something the Academy desperately needs after last year), than it does to Meryl, so I'm not betting she'll win.

I hope not! She wasn't that great. I found her attempt to bring Florence to life to be nothing more than a caricature. The same thing can be said for Julie/Julia and The Iron Lady. Caricatures of the real women.

She was fantastic as FFJ. She finds the humanity in every role she plays.

I'm hoping Amy Adams wins for Arrival or Nocturnal Animals, but the Academy just adores Meryl Streep. I wouldn't be surprised if Meryl did win.

No. She was spectacular in it, but it's not enough to win. Don't disregard Stone, Adams & Portman in their respective films (Arrival for Adams not Nocturnal Animals). I am very sure it won't get a nomination either.

Streep should've won for The French Lieutenant's Woman (alongside Sarandon for Atlantic City. Hepburn did not deserve to win for On Golden Pond), The Bridges of Madison County (again, alongside Sarandon, who definitely deserved to win), and August: Osage County (alongside Adams for American Hustle. Cate Blanchett was fantastic, but Adams and Streep were a bit better), though.
