Winona Ryder : What was her official excuse?

What was her official excuse?

Painkillers? WWII? Slepwalking? Insomnia? Dissoccociation?
Johnny Depp is the best thing that's ever happened to Winona.
Is it possible that she's even less apologetic than the Archdiocese of Boston?

Re: What was her official excuse?

The real question is what is YOUR excuse? (for being an a$$hole)

The real question is what is YOUR excuse? (for being an a$$hole)

That is indeed the real question. I think the answer is a severe untreated personality disorder.

Re: schandstenen

In a way you're both right: she was behaving like an - which also signifies a severe personality disorder

So, to answer the question, MY guess as to an excuse would be that she wanted attention.

Now she's a convicted felon. My name is James Boland and I approve this message.
CGI
Is it possible her director told her they were filming on location (like Mannequin) and that nothing's gonna stop us now?

Re: schandstenen

Never mind about her arrest and her criminal record and her standing as a convicted felon, I want to know why her mug shot was never publically released. I looked for it on The Smoking Gun years ago and I could never find it.

Why is that? Every other celebrity who got arrested, their mug shot is public record and everyone can see it. Why not hers?

I want to know this. And as far as I can tell, her career never *really* recovered from that infamous 2001 incident. She still got work, but her position in Hollywood was gone. It was over and done with. Plus she revealed that Mel Gibson was a homophobe and an anti-Semite at some point and claimed that "nobody believed her". So? So the hell what? Did she think that we couldn't have figured that out about him on our own? Please!

I'm over her. She's done, she's finished. That's all there is to it.

Re: schandstenen

How is she finished? She's just been in a hit series in which she received first billing. Yes, she probably won't be a pin-up again but that doesn't mean her career is completely over.

Re: schandstenen

His or her post gave me a good laugh

Winona Ryders career stopped for years when she was convicted for shoplifting in 2001. She had already made a lot of enemies in Hollywood by behaving extremely badly to personal assistants very publicly, and for behaving badly on sets; she had been overworked for years and also suffered from bipolar disorder, and had not figured out how to manage it and was thus a complete monster. People were glad to see her convicted of the shoplifting charge, and the fact that she had a string of failures (most spectacularly Autumn in new York) meant that her career stopped for years. She returned to acting in 2005, but never got more than cameos or girlfriend roles until the last year, when she attracted excellent critical notice for Experimenter. That, plus her status as a Gen X icon, led to her big comeback this year in Stranger Things; though she got wildly divergent reviews for her role in that miniseries, she garnered nominations from both the Gol5b4den Globes and the Screen Actors Guild for that show, and theres no denying now shes back.

Shes an odd film actress of the Natalie Wood sort: like Wood, she was a very naturally talented child actor, but never studied how to become a real adult actress (the way Jodie Foster, another talented child actress, did formally after Yale), and so she grew up to rely too much on cheap mannerisms. But, like Wood, she also grew up to be beautiful, and became a generational icon. People seem to love seeing her come back despite her grave limitations as an actress.

Re: Over Her?

As far as the mug shot - you might try sending a letter to the L.A. County District Attorney's office. Maybe they can help add to your collection of everything Winona. That would be a rare artifact indeed - and would be great to add to the thousands of Winona photographs and memorabilia you have plastered all over the walls of your creepy little house.

Far from being "over her" - you sound obsessed.

Re: schandstenen, an act of mercy

"I want to know why her mug shot was never publically released."
I assume she had to return every single article when she was apprehended. So if her outfit was stolen, and she was photographed after surrendering it, the photo would have been deemed inappropriate.
Some people are just a number.
How many problems we gots now?

Re: What was her official excuse?

Matthew Broderick actually killed someone. Rob Lowe made a sex tape with an underage girl. They're both having great careers, and no one ever mentions either incident. Robert Downey Jr. had so many substance abuse problems that no one could cast him in a movie because they couldn't get insurance for it. Winona Ryder was one of the great young actresses of her generation until she SHOPLIFTED, which will forever be associated with her. Seeing a double standard here at all? I am happy she is finally crawling back to having a career. Good for Winona!

How is Matthew Broderick having a great career?

Re: What was her official excuse?

i see now.. sorry :-( wrong reply

Re: What was her official excuse?

What is your definition of having a great career? Unless it is only "being Ryan Gosling," Broderick is having one. First off, he's been in numerous movies since the incident in question. He's also been a highly successful Broadway actor. Yes, at 54, he yet to play a Marvel superhero, but he's doing fine. No one has written him off the way they obviously did Winona Ryder for years.

Re: What was her official excuse?

I think shoplifting is much more evil than killing someone. I mean, when clothing is stolen, it damages society in a deeply disturbing way. They should have put her on a chain gang and made her pick Mullberries for 30 years.

Re: What was her official excuse?

Are you *beep* serious

A rose is just a rose.

Re: What was her official excuse?

Let's hope not, I would be pretty stupid to actually believe that *beep*

Re: What was her official excuse?

That would be cruel and unusual punishment as Mulberries can stain your skin purple and it takes a lot of soap to wash it off.

Re: What was her official excuse?

Ok, well, since she is such an evil, worthless creature for stealing clothing, we should put her to work in a Chinese sweat shop for twenty five years

Re: What was her official excuse?

Cute! Les Mis Winona?

che du la pa de padre?

Re: What was her official excuse?

What you saying Ruby?

Re: What was her official excuse?

Matthew Broderick actually killed two people, a mother and her daughter in a car accident but it was an accident though.

Re: What was her official excuse?

Sixteen years later and we're still talking about her shoplifting thing? Seriously, if you give a16d0 damn then look into getting the stick from your ass removed.

Re: What was her official excuse?

I know right. Why are we still talking about this case. Nobody that I know of really cares. Generally people remeber what she did but typically remember more about her movies. I know that I grew up watching her movies. Id probably go and see another one of her movies which clearly some people did with Stranger Things. I could care less about over something she was caught doing, most importantly she got in trouble for and had to be punished for. It happened 16 years ago. It is time to move on.

Best post of the year

good job.

Re: What was her official excuse?

After all this time, you'd think it'd stop coming up, but in *recent* interviews, the lass claims her "incident" (aka "scandal") was "the best thing that could have happened" to her.

Has she not grown up since?

As for the seemingly prescient stickotomy suggestion, I do not own livestock anymore.
Put me on backorder.

Re: What was her official excuse?

Listening to that retarded speech made her retarded. Like seriously, the guy was promoting violence and calling refugees freaks, and he thinks his opposition is monsters. C'mon. Her mocking him was the only good thing about it.

You make a good point. While they are young they'll think it's cool and rebellious. When they are more mature they'll think of him as a horse's ass.
