Nicole Kidman : So…what next?

Re: So…what next?

Cate deserves her moment in the sun right now as she's extremely gifted.

nobody is denying her "gifts" and shading her sunlight, but you know it would be nice if Kidman had a little glimmer directed towards her, especially at this point in her career, she really needs it.

I need a big studio film or that theater stint announcement, I'm sure it'll cheer me up.

Re: So…what next?

Thats cool. i just don't think we need to be negative towards other actresses for her to get it. Her time will come.

a new Macbeth to be directed by Scorsese?

One can always dream

Kenneth Branagh and Martin Scorsese are set to team up on film version of Shakespeares Macbeth, inspired by the formers production of the play for the 2013 Manchester international festival.

Responding to a question from social media while on BBC Radio 5 Lives Kermode and Mayos Film Review, Branagh said the project was practically there All things being well Mr Scorsese will direct a film version of that production. The fingers are hovering above pieces of paper. Everyone wants to do it; its just a question of schedule. Im very, very hopeful its going to happen.

The nature of the film is as yet unclear, with Branagh saying Scorsese would be invited to do what he will. Co-directed by Branagh and Rob Ashford, the original production was hailed by Michael Billington in the Guardian as boast[ing] a performance by the latter that reminds us what an intemperately exciting Shakespearean actor he is. A film version of the play was shown in cinemas in July 2013 by NT Live.

Even if agreed, any project would appear some way off. Scorsese is currently filming the Japan-set missionary drama Silence in Taiwan, while Branagh would need to remount the stage production; this latter would appear to be already in the works. There is also the question of the imminent film version of Macbeth, starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard and directed by Jason Kurzel, which is due for release in 2015.

Lady Macbeth is on my Kidman checklist, Kidman would be perfect she'd bring something new and fresh to the role.

She really doe. I wonder if Nicole or her team read these boards? There again i hope not with some nasty comments. I hope it happens anyway. Think i'll find a wishing well too or light a candle :D

No Cannes

YAy!

but what a great lineup Cannes has this year, Carol is going to debut in compet5b4ition, I'd wager Cate Blanchett is going to win the Cannes Best Actress prize.

Kidman's remaining three films should all debut in the fall fests! so far reception for Strangerland and Queen have not been very well received so that leaves us with one lead role in "the family Fang" and two suporting roles in "Genius" and "lion".

In 2016 von Trier will shoot miniseries with an international cast. So its another potential reunite with Kidman.

Would love to see Nicole work with von Trier again. Definitely something worthwhile!

Re: So…what next?

I've always thought Nicole and Woody Allen would be a match made in heaven. I think he could bring out the best in her. I'm actually really surprised it hasn't happened already.

I would like to see Nicole and Woody Allen work together. Hopefully at some point in the future it will happen with the right script and role etc.

Mad Max

Completely and utterly in awe of Mad Max and George Miller,

Miller is responsible for launching Kidman's career in Australia (Bangkok Hilton, Vietnam, flirting and Dead Calm)and she has subsequently worked with him again on Happy Feet, I don't care what she has to do but she needs to make another collaboration happen pronto.

The guy is a visionary genius.

Re: Mad Max

I loved Theron as Furiosa, but yesterday during the screening I was thinking about that collaboration, I would love to see Kidman in a role like that. Incredible film. Meanwhile in Cannes Cate Blanchett continues with her "perfect" career, maybe she will got the Palm Dor?

I knew "Carol" was a winner even before Cate Blanchett signed on, I wanted Harvey to give it to Kidman so badly, she'd be perfect for the role. but what is there to do she's111c not in contention for the good roles anymore, Kidman has to now fend for herself and its only getting harder especially with the never ending string of panned and flop films.

I called it with Grace and I called it with Carol, I just knew.

Hopefully Photograph 51 brings back some critical backing, but I'm not too sure cause its sounds so dull, but i'll be there twice!

How is it that Cate can't seem to put a foot wrong in the public's /critics's eyes and Nicole apparently can't seem to do anything right. She's become like the ugly step sister that everyone has already made up their minds about. " O her again ".

Re: Mad Max

You forgot the hushed snigerring behind her back.

Cate is just smart and astute, she knows what she's doing, Nicole on the other hand is in La la land, oh let's just jump into the fire and hope for the best.

Re: Mad Max

I love Cate & I think she is a brilliant 111cactress , but I can't help it but feel jealous .. I really want Nicole to have a great successful movie in which she leads , it breaks my heart as a fan to see her movies constantly badly received in almost every aspect

Re: Mad Max

yes it gets a bit taxing when we build our hopes up for a projectand then are constantly being let down. She just needs one to get her off the ground again. Which one will it be?? lol There was Paddington i guess but that doesn't count because it was such a small part.

My dear it may have something to do with the fact that Cate Blanchett is a better actress. If Nicole had done Carol it would be more of the same 'wigs & whispering' that she did in Grace of Monaco and no doubt Carol would be a relentlessly dull flop.

I think Nicole would be wise to stick to supporting parts, preferably with better actors like she did with Stoker and Paddington.

Perhaps we should say what a shame it was that Blanchett couldn't have done Grace of Monaco and Queen of the Desert.

Nicole Kidman is heavier on eyeshadow than emotion - The Paperboy Review, Variety

Re: Mad Max

Sure but Blanchett did her own share of dull movies. Remember Elizabeth sequel? It was painful to watch. I just checked her filmography and there's a16d0 dull movie after dull after dull. Recently, I've seen her at Berlinale in Knight of Cups - it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, just astonishingly bad, and she's very one note there. Malick obviously just didn't know what to do with those amazing and talented people. What I try to say is that anyone in Hollywood would work with an acclaimed director, be it Malick or Herzog, but no one is guaranteed the film's gonna be a success.

Re: Mad Max

Nobody could have saved Grace of Monaco it would have been garbage under anybody foolhardy enough to have accepted it.

Re: Mad Max

well if u ask me Cate is always mannered and theatrical in her acting. If u need a hammy performance then i guess she's your girl.

Re: Mad Max

She's definitely let her recent theatre stint influence her screen performances, most obviously in Blue Jasmine. Although apparently the nature and tone of Carol is very faithful to the novel, elegantly restrained and subtle. Reviews have praised Blanchett's performance as a career-high one, remarkably affecting in an understated way.

Looks like her work in Carol will be a return to the days of Elizabeth and Notes on a Scandal.

Re: Mad Max

Except for Photograph 51 in London's West End, Nicole has no projects as lead actress in her schedule for 2015 or 2016. The only upcoming projects she will film on her schedule now are one TV series (Big Little Lies, in which she will not be a lead) and one film with a small role, How to Talk to Girls at Parties. So, she's following your advice, Mrs. Mills! (I don't know about whether the other cast members are good, except for Reese Witherspoon, who is a very good actress). Other than those two projects, nothing on the horizon for 2016 or beyond. No more projects, no disappointments, no wigs, no whispering.

Re: Mad Max

She is Leading in three movies coming out this year ! Fang , Queen & Strangerland. & supporting in three others , Not to mention Grace premiering next week on TV in the US.
All these movies would require Premiers , interviews , magazines covers & so on .. with her play running for two months & start filming HBO soon along with rumoured supporting role in Mitchells film, she is pretty busy.
But Im pretty sure we will hear a new Movie involvement pretty soon, I just hope one of these movies does well. Imagine all of them are flops !

Re: Mad Max

I was referring to films that have not been made yet. I agree with you that she will be busy promoting Fang, Queen, Stranger, etc; but if they go direct to DVD, she won't have to promote them. She'll finish up 2015 with Photograph 51 and then who knows? By the way, She did sign on for the Mitchell film but it can't be a large role as it is about two young guys partying with young girls from another planet (why she signed on for that one, who knows, except that she's friends with the director, Mitchell. I don't see room for an older adult in this film but I guess Nicole's role must be really small).

I'm not sure about new movie involvements. Maybe Nicole would prefer to retire in 2016 and be a full-time wife and mother.

Re: Mad Max

" I agree with you that she will be busy promoting Fang, Queen, Stranger, etc; but if they go direct to DVD "

if her 3 leading movies go straight to DVD in one year she is not retiring , that's the end of her career.

Queen is scheduled for a theatrical release in over 1,000 Theaters in the US
Strangerland is set for limited theatrical release followed by TV release
Hopefully Fang ends up with a decent distributor " news should be out anytime, some footage been shown during Cannes "

Re: Mad Max

Big Litte Lies, I hope, can be her next project.

Re: Mad Max

Agree! I myself watched MM twice this weekend. What an amazing movie Miller made.

"And Nic is off, really for the whole summer"

PEOPLE: What do you and the girls have going on this summer? Any vacations planned?

Keith: Were actually on a bit of a vacation right now, and we just continue that for another week or so. And Nics off, really for the whole summer, and then shes gonna start a play in London in September, October, November, so were gonna be basin out of there for about three months.

Everybodys just relocating and living in London for a little while, so Im really looking forward to that because I love London. Of course, Ive got a lot of shows on and the Idol auditions are gonna start, so Im gonna be going back and forth from London pretty regularly, so weve got a busy year ahead of us.

Good for her , she needs sometime off

Re: "And Nic is off, really for the whole summer"

She's not off she is going to be rehearsing for photograph51 till her fingers bleed from holding the script.

Re: "And Nic is off, really for the whole summer"

And I think she would be wise to do that (rehearse till her fingers bleed).

Keith, her husband, thinks she can take the rest of the summer off. He is a musician and singer. I don't think many musicians and singers would necessarily be aware of the huge investment of time and energy it takes to do a film or play (unless they've been in one). Musicians and singers get huge dividends from writing or performing one song. And of course when they tour or perform in concerts they perform their same songs, their repertoire, over and over again.

Re: "And Nic is off, really for the whole summer"

Rehearsing for photograph51 till her fingers bleed from holding the script.

I do hope that she'll be taking acting lessons and working with a voice coach as her breathy whispering probably won't be heard past the first row. Maybe they'll have to mic her and use performance amplification. She doesn't have any nudity or sex scenes to fall back on like last time she was on stage. I imagine she has her brunette wig all sorted out or will reuse The Railway Man one

It does sound strange thoughas if you could take the whole summer off before performing a play on the West End at the beginning of September?

Its so boring when u keep repeating yourself Mrs Mills. We all know you are her biggest fan.

Is it just me or is Jennifer Lawrence

I'm not attacking I'm just wondering,

I first noticed Jennifer Lawerence's face looking weird in the last Mockingjay film it looked puffy and stiff, it was also distracting to a degree but it's become even more obvious after the new trailer her face looks marble like?

Why isn't anybody saying anything? It's not mentioned as a talking point in reviews (just like any Kidman film)And at so young an age to be going and puffing, filling and stiffening.

I can't be the only one to see it and I have become a pro at spotting these things due to being a Kidman fan and reading all these face analysis posts.

Maybe they're waiting till she turns 38 and then her press immunity wares off?

Not sure Lawrence's face always looked puffy to me. Since I saw her in Winter's bone. It's like she is crying every night, but I guess it's part of her appeal (for some people)?..

Re: Wondering what's this new project/commercial

Her poor daughters look exhausted. The long-haul flights must really take their toll.

She looks drop-dead gorgeous in those snaps of her filming for the commercial. Although I have to admit I chuckled at her face in this one:

she looks even better here, has her Charlotte Bless get up on,

and the dailymail as usual is full of comedy to be had, just take a gander at this, it would make shakespeare envious.

Nicole's slender midriff could be made out from beneath the billowing translucent top which featured an open collar neck, displaying her collar bones.

Looking like she has just received a fresh face after sitting in the makeup chair, her flawless porcelain skin glowed as she sported a heavy lashing of mascara and eye shadow.

The actress who appears to have tapped into the elusive Fountain of Youth smeared a dark tone of lipstick across her plump pout.
