Nicole Kidman : So…what next?

Re: rumored to be in talks for Seawitch role in Coppola's Little Mermaid

I wouldn't mind The Little Mermaid, since it would pair her up with Sofia Coppola.

Re: rumored to be in talks for Seawitch role in Coppola's Little Mermaid

I think that Millicent is very much in the vein of Cruella DeVille. If she needs another commercial movie to bring her back to the mainstream audience, this might be it

Re: rumored to be in talks for Seawitch role in Coppola's Little Mermaid

That's true, but Nicole Kidman in Fur coats and slinky black dresses and cigarette holder twirling between her fingers.

She'd be perfect, she's also the correct height, plus she'll be lead.

Re: rumored to be in talks for Seawitch role in Coppola's Little Mermaid

To see her in a Sofia Coppola project would be leagues better than a potentially diluted, questionable Cruella revamp. Especially when Close made the role quite iconic.

Re: Baz to direct Kung Fu

It's probably the next Baz movie. So keep an eye on. I'm hoping she will play one of the enemy of Carradine. Like a beautiful and evil kung fu master.

Re: Baz to direct Kung Fu

I like the idea of Nicole doing The Little Mermaid with Sofia Coppola. And even though Australia didn't work, I wouldn't mind seeing her work with Baz again. Kung Fu seems like an odd choice for him, but it could be fun.

But really, I am hoping that she takes a break after The Family Fang. She could potentially have six films out this year! One of the things I fear most for Nicole is overexposure. I think that's a big reason why she lost popularity the first time, and I could see that happening again.

Nicole has been more productive lately than I can ever remember. I forget sometimes that she's the mother of two young children. It's a bit strange. She has talked so much about how she loves the simple life in Nashville, and she doesn't need to "escape" through her acting anymore, and yet she is working nonstop.

Lovely! Look forward to seeing it :)

something is brewing

She was spotted walking out of CAA with a script!

Although the haters are saying it's her divorce papers.

The users at Just Jared are oh so smart.

On another note, do you think it's the script for Genius?

http://sally-hawkins.tumblr.com/post/78535130213

Re: something is brewing

Or, perhaps the final draft of The Family Fang?

Re: something is brewing

Actually it's the final take over papers for TWC cause she's tired of Harvey messing with her movies.

Re: something is brewing

She's probably memorised "the family fang" having had the project gestating for two years, Genius is a small role I dont think she'd be cradling the script witha smile like she does in the pics.

I think she's gotten something new and exciting!

You mean I have no hope of Tucson?

Re: No other project?

She filmed every movies in the list, except for Genius in fall. She is out for Danish Girl ( _ ). She has no progect for next year. I know she worked so much this year, but i hope for another prestigious project for 2016. I think True Sprit was just a rumor. I really hope, with Family Fang in filming, she can focus on Little Bee, maybe for the next year.

Oh, I totally forgot she will be in theater next year! Do you think she'll shoot another movie?

Re: So…what next?

Next year,

I'd like for those theater rumors to come true, so as I may finally see her on one of the world's greatest stages.

From the film front,

I'm impressed with how slick and stylish B4IG2S looks and that has reignited my enthusiasm for "little bee", so hopefully Little Bee happens next year.

It's time she did a Hollywood studio backed film even if it's a supporting role, there must be something out there for her, her agents at CAA are not doing their jobs properly if they can't find her anything suitable.

Personally, I would love for Nicole to seek out and try to do "The Blood Countess", Tilda Swinton was attached to the project a while ago and it didn't go anywhere.

I really think Kidman would excel in this role, in fact I just know that she'd knock it out of the park. I've always found Countess Elizabeth Bathory so fascinating and I know Kidman can fully realize her on screen with all her disturbing complexities.

I want it to be period piece horror drama that is obscene, gaudy and more importantly isn't afraid to go over the top. Possibly directed by someone familiar with gross out horror (Sam Raimi), I can only dream.

The film is sure to be controversial but I wouldn't want it any otherway.

Dusty Springfield project still alive!

Sue Cameron a Hollywood entrainment commentator and writer responded to a tweet enquiring about a Dusty Springfield film.

This is what she had to say;

Im working with Nicole Kidman on her Dusty movie. Its the only legit one

A couple of interesting things to note

Sue Cameron according to her Linkedin bio was the late Dusty Springfields personal industry consultant, so she might not be the script writer but she could be an advisory consultant on Kidmans project.

She mentioned in her tweet Im working present tense, therefore the project is still in the works.

She also says its the only legit one, IE the other Dusty projects are just talk at this stage and Kidmans is more far down along than we thought!

I dont know how suitable Kidman will be in this role, but I welcome any opportunity for Kidman to sing on film again, she has such a sweet voice.

"You were supposed to love me, werent you?", Nicole Kidman-Stoker 2013

Re: Dusty Springfield project still alive!

I say: stop with these biopics.

Re: Dusty Springfield project still alive!

Now, now dont let Grace deter you from "Kidman and Biopics", we all knew Grace was going to be disaster from the moment the project was announced.

Unlike Grace, I feel there is a story to tell here, and Kidman physically is quite a match to Dusty, shes also pulled off this look before with Charlotte Bless the buoffant wig, the caked on makeup and mascara, Dusty herself is quoted on IMDB likening herself to a "drag queen! lol!

Dusty Springfield was quite a complex human being with a turbulent lifestyle, she died losing out to breast cancer, an aspect Kidman can relate to and capitalize on because she knows full well what are the first hand effects5b4 of battling cancer.

Dusty also openly claimed to a be a bisexual even though she mostly had relationships with women, and was an equal rights advocate (race, sex and sexuality) during those times when it wasnt as acceptable or as visible as it is now.

Finally the singing, Kidmans going to have to do, I mean shes going to have to belt out ,You dont have to say you love me and many other Dusty Springfield hits. That is something Id like to see and hear very much!

If they manage to snag an interesting director (lee daniels, James mangold and Gus van sant) then Im all for this biopic !

"You were supposed to love me, werent you?", Nicole Kidman-Stoker 2013

Re: Dusty Springfield project still alive!

Well i think returning to the stage would be a smart move and a good critically acclaimed spin couldn't hurt and i would definitely be interested in going. Especially as it would be Nicole.

I think a Hollywood blockbuster would be a smart move. Nicole has great acting strengths and i agree i'm sure there must be something out there for her. Even if it was a superhero movie or action flick. Maybe it's just me but maybe that would be nice on Nicole's resume.

I've always been fascinated by Elizabeth Bathory and saw the Anna Friel Countess of blood a few years ago. I was quite disappointed but still have it in my collection. Nicole is so good at taking on roles with a dark edge.

I agree with you about not letting people be put of by Grace. Nicole has a lovely singing voice. The other day i was watching Happy Feet on tv (i was quite bored and knew Nicole voiced a role, never bothered buying it as i thought it wouldn't be my cup of tea) i noticed Nicole's voice even though she was imitating Marilyn Monroe and i loved hearing her singing again. She does have a lovely singing voice so would be great if she sang again. So i'm all for the Dusty Springfield biopic!

Re: Dusty Springfield project still alive!

Havent watched that film because I heard they tried to spin Bathory into a goody two shoes who was framed, Is that true? Is the film worth a watch?

Re: Dusty Springfield project still alive!

They do. It's worth seeing. i think it's reasonable to buy. I found it misleading as i was expecting a dark tale on the legend and was expecting it to be amazing but was disappointed. She looked the part though and isn't a bad actress.

Finally saw Love and Pain and the Whole Damn thing

And I loved it, they dont make these sort of films anymore, with a sweet innocent romance, charm, tragedy and purity in its story telling ( reminded me of Moulin Rouge a little).

The film has huge potential for a modern remake/update, especially in terms of the cinematography and soundtrack, which would vastly improve on the films experience.

Itll be hard to match the chemistry between Maggie Smith and Timothy Bottoms, but its not impossible. Id be very pleased if Kidman moved forward this film, I also have a preferred director picked out John Curran I think hed be able to capture the romance, the beauty of the locales and charm.

Kidman should fast track this project, it doesnt need a huge cast just a director with a keen eye for vistas and an exotic locale ( I would rather they shift the settings to Italy). I was pleasntly suprised by the film and I dont think many have heard or seen this film. Which is a shame.

Re: Finally saw Love and Pain and the Whole Damn thing

I think it was unavailable to buy for years. It would air here in the US on pay movie channels late at night every once in a while which is how I saw it but that was it. When it was quietly released on dvd those who wanted it bought it. No one I ever encounter has ever heard of it still.

Re: Finally saw Love and Pain and the Whole Damn thing

How did you find it mitchumsgal? Do you think Kidman would brin5b4g more to the role or should the original film remain untouched/forgotten .,

If the original was more popular I would have rather they not make a remake but since the film is virtually unheard of, then perhaps Kidman having a go would be alright, the role is perfect for Nicole and it would be beneficial if there was an emphasis on Lila Fisher's backstory and disease

"You were supposed to love me, werent you?", Nicole Kidman-Stoker 2013

Re: Finally saw Love and Pain and the Whole Damn thing

I've only seen it once all the way through and that was over 5 years ago at least. I liked it. I probably should get around to watching it again because I do have the dvd and I can't remember the ending. It was open-ended wasn't it?

I think the role is perfect for Nicole but it will have to be a passion project. I can't see it being a commercial hit and I don't think the material is showcase-y enough for Nicole to get Oscar nominated. But I'll probably enjoy it more because it's Nicole. I don't worship at the altar of Maggie Smith so there's that.

I said this when it the project was first announced - casting the younger male lead will be key. And even after all this time I can't think of anyone suitable.

I hope we get some comments from Nicole soon. I'm curious to know why she decided to try for a remake. Keith put out an album in 2006 called Love, Pain, and the Whole Crazy Thing and he did confirm in an interview he knew the Pakula film. Did they watch it together and did that plant a seed in Nicole's brain? Inquiring minds want to know! smile.gif

Me too, whilst I thought Maggie had good chemistry with Timothy, I did not feel enough sympathy for her plight. Kidman can bring more depth to the role and therefore making the tragedy feel more real and threatening.

Me too I'm blank on that front, no clue, perhaps The Railway Man's Jeremy Irvine?

I also don't think it has much commercial and awardsb68 appeal, but I would like this film to be made it's a nice charming and sweet little film and should make an interesting addition to Kidman's filmography at this stage of her career.

Re: So…what next?

Kidman on her way back to the states, looks like Genius is still on the cards.

I can't wait till she fills up her filming schedule next year, Kidman does her best work whenever she's suffered a trauma of some sort, also "Little Bee" should be fast tracked it's a good role for her.

It set to begin filming at the end of the month both in the UK. and the States. Kidman although will film later on I've heard after the first week of October, it's a supporting role so she's not expected to film for long.

Re: So…what next?

I hope so, it's a type of role Kidman excels in, desperate, obnoxious, self loathing, passionate, fiery and irrational.

Re: So…what next?

I think Nicole would be great as the villain in the new Narnia movie, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair as Lady of the green kirtie.

I don't think she's too old and Nicole can play that type of role perfectly. Imagine brunette hair for the role as well!

Would be a great potential box office hit. The others have all done well and it would be great for Nicole to do more commercial films. No harm in playing another villain.

Anyone else?

I can't comment on the sequels but the first one i enjoyed. Been a few years since i've seen it.

I'm not sure. There has been sequels so maybe they didn't live up to the first one. The new one will be a reboot i think.

Re: So…what next?

Instead of Narina, I'd rather Kidman play the "Snow Queen" in a darker live action version of Hans Christian Andersen's "Snow Queen".

She would be marvelous in the role!

I think she's played plenty of icy villain types, to be honest. I'd rather see her in a few more comedies. She was a total riot in "Just Go With It".

i've wished she'd do a live action version so badly,I'm a big fan of the 1957 Russian adaptation, the snow queen is not a 2d villian, she is very complex and Kidman can bring so much to the role.

Re: So…what next?

Judging from the success of Paddington, which is the first success that Nicole has had in ever so long a time after so many flops, I think she might be better at playing small roles in films with strong acting casts and iconic characters. Perhaps something by Disney2000 - maybe like the second wife in Hansel & Gretel? Gretel could be played by Jennifer Lawrence

Nicole Kidman is heavier on eyeshadow than emotion - The Paperboy Review, Variety

Re: So…what next?

Perhaps something by Disney - maybe like the second wife in Hansel & Gretel?

I've always thought the second wife/step mother was such a marvelous character in the story, I mean to take those children and purportedly lose them in the woods just to put more food in her belly? Was she pregnant? I forgot, such a wonderful character piece.

My whole career is always a roller-coaster", Nicole Kidman- Paddington Premiere 2014

Re: So…what next?

Or The Snow Queen that would be a great idea. Nicole can play icy very well. I was hoping to see her play a darker role with dark hair.

Another role Nicole would've been great at is the Oz film in Rachel Weisz role. Nicole could've made that far more interesting in my opinion.

If she plays another great villain and a legendary one at that i wouldn't call it a supporting role. Most villains especially female ones steal the movie!

Re: So…what next?

Myentertainmentworld has both Lion and Secret in their Eyes listed for a January filming date. Hopefully one doesn't get pushed back.

As for her in development projects, some of these have been dead for years. Including Spectre

My Wild Life
Reconstructing Amelia
The Silent Wife

How to Marry a Millionaire
Love and Pain and the Whole Damn Thing
Spectre
