Ghost in the Shell : Adios message boards.

Adios message boards.

Killing the message boards is truly a sad thing coming for imdb . Movie enthusiast wanting to find an answer or discussing certain additional details about the film's we all love will forever be laid to rest. This was the heart of imdb site. Taking this a way is like losing that one person in your family that kept all of us together, it will never be the same again.

Re: Adios message boards.

I loved the boards when looking up old and strange movies no one else has heard of which is why I was one of the early traffic to this site before the Amazon buy out.

Re: Adios message boards.

Good riddance. Sensible people are in minority. It's a troll paradise.

Re: Adios message boards.

But the ignore button was so easy to utilize, trolls weren't really a problem except for those unwilling to disentangle themselves.

I agree with the OP, these forums are/were the beating heart of IMDB.

The greatest trick God ever pulled was convincing the world that He's good.

Re: Adios message boards.

Correct!

Re: Adios message boards.

If anybody is interested in another movie database with dedicated boards for every individual title and person, there is a website called TMDB (https://www.themoviedb.org/talk) that recently added message boards for every specific movie and person (example: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/149871-kaguyahime-no-monogatari/discuss You have to click on the little word bubble icon on the top left of the movie's page). A bunch of people from IMDb have already gathered at their general boards and and are discussing ways to increase activity and serve as an alternative to IMDb.

I encourage everyone to take a look at this site. I think it looks very promising. It's the only other site I know of with message boards for every movie, actor, director, etc.

I also encourage everyone to spread the word about this site, as it seems most people don't know about it.

Re: Adios message boards.

I like coming to the boards to see if anyone noticed the same thing as me or to discuss the meanings being certain things in films. Sure there were tons of stupid people here, but that the internet. I mean it's just a perfect place to discuss move and tv shows. I signed up in 2005 and made my first comment in '06. I'll probably slowly stop using IMDb altogether.

Re: Adios message boards.

Been here for 11 years. Very sad day. I guess Reddit might have to do, even if I dont really like using it. :/

Re: Adios message boards.

i know. it is a shame you cannot vent your outrage about being a white male victim any more w/o admin giving your cracekr ass the ban hammer.

Re: Adios message boards.

Re: Adios message boards.

So long and thanks for all the fish

Nee ta ma duh tyen-shia suo-yo duh run doh gai si

Re: Adios message boards.

I came here mainly for three reasons.

1. Check movies rating.
2. Check storyline.
3. Maybe the most vital - Go through the comments regarding the movie.

Without no.3 it's not worth visiting anymore.

So goodbye IMDB, it's been a pleasure to come and visit through the years,
but in my opinion; without the boards - there is no IMDB.

Re: Adios message boards.

Whenever I finished a movie that made me think, question, or critique, I always rushed to the message boards to see if others shared the same experiences. The website will certainly lose that special factor that made me log in so often.

Re: Adios message boards.

Yep - this has been a part of my movie experience for 20+ years, I'm bitterly disappointed by this decision.

Re: Adios message boards.

Re: Adios message boards.

I can't really blame the IMDB folks. Without a doubt, there are more argument-inciting posters on these boards than on any other site I frequent. My "Ignore" list is longer than my arm. Of course, the angry losers will find someplace else to frequent - with any luck it will be at the bottom of a bay after a long jump off a bridge.
