The Ignorant Fairies : The Hikmet Poem

The Hikmet Poem

Does anyone know the title to the Hikmet poem that was quoted in the movie or a copy of the poem?

Re: The Hikmet Poem

it's an extrait from "Piraye için Yazilmis: Saat 21-22 siirleri" (Written for Piraye : Poems of 21-22 o'clock)..hikmet had written these series of poems wheb he is in jail for his lover (and then wife) Piraye..i have the full version but in Turkish:

20 Eylül 1945

Bu geç vakit
bu sonbahar gecesinde
kelimelerinle doluyum;
zaman gibi, madde gibi ebedî,
göz gibi çiplak,
el gibi agir
ve yildizlar gibi piril piril
kelimeler.
Kelimelerin geldiler bana,
yüreginden, kafandan, etindendiler.
Kelimelerin getirdiler seni,
onlar : ana,
onlar : kadin
ve yoldas olan...
Mahzundular, aciydilar, sevinçli, umutlu, kahramandilar,
kelimelerin insandilar...

if i can find in english, i will send it immediately..or i will try to translate it..

Re: The Hikmet Poem

from "9-10 P. M. POEMS WRITTEN FOR PIRAYE"

20 September 1945

At this late hour
in this autumn night
I am full of your words;
eternal as time and matter,
naked as an eye,
heavy as a hand
and gleaming as stars
your words.

Your words came to me,
they were of your heart, of your head, of your flesh.
Your words brought you,
they were : mother,
they were : woman
and they were comrade...
They were sad, painful, joyful, hopeful, heroic,
your words were human...

I appreciate it.

Re: The Hikmet Poem

a little correction: nazim's surname wasn't "hikmet".hikmet was the second name, and the surname is "ran";which makes him "Nazim Hikmet Ran". we generally call him "nazim hikmet" or just "nazim" in turkey, never just hikmet.
