I Need To Know : Last chance I will ever have to know. 70s TV cop show moments:
Re: Last chance I will ever have to know. 70s TV cop show moments:
Just a guess Q3. Bearcats with Rod Taylor.
Re: Last chance I will ever have to know. 70s TV cop show moments:
I don't think it was Bearcats. That took place in the Mexican Revolution of 1910-1920. This battle was more like a southeast Asian modern (1970) era. There was a white hero and an Asian supporting character or villain, I recall thinking it was "that guy from Star Trek" (G. Takei) but it might have been the actor called Mako instead. The battle was at a ruined temple or some kind of ruins. It was not the John Wayne movie Green Berets.
Re: Last chance I will ever have to know. 70s TV cop show moments:
George Tikai (that guy from Star Trek) was in an episode of The Twilight Zone (as were several other Trek actors). He was in one of the war story episodes, also Leonard Nimoy was in a War story Twilight Zone. So if the thing you saw was in Black and White although the T. Zone was early 60s not mid 70s.

I'm pretty sure that Q2 is from "Alfred Hitchcock Presents".

or maybe "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055657
Though I can't remember which episode.

I'm pretty sure it was one of those weekly mid-70s cop or detective shows that feature a central hero. Like Harry O, Streets of San Francisco or The Blue Knight or Joe Forrester. I'm not sure if it was a detective or a cop show.
Same goes for Q1 but it was definitely a different show than Q2.

#1 is from Harry O (1973). I vividly remember that scene as it was frequently shown in the promos for the show when it was on CTV in Canada.
Couldn't find the quote on Subzin and no one put it into any of the episode quote sections. And checking out the episode summaries didn't jog my memory. I'm trying to see if there's a clip anywhere on Youtube or somewhere else.

That sounds right. I lived in Canada then and I clearly recall seeing the commercials. Actually, now that I think of it, maybe that's ALL I saw of this
It became a meme among us kids long before the concept of memes was even recognized or named. All of us in 3rd grade that year were always shouting "I can fly-yi-yi-yi!" when we jumped off the swings or the jungle gym at school.

I watched the series back then as well as repeats when they were on.
I looked through all the Youtube videos and there's no full length episodes or snips that have that scene. And the guy that fell off the roof could've been any of the young actors I saw in the clips.
At least both seasons are on DVD if you really want to find that episode. I might order it off of Ebay myself one of these days.

It was actually from the TV movie Smile Jenny, You're Dead (1974) that Harry O was based on. Of course they could have reused that bit in the series. And the actor who jumps is Zalman King.
"Harry O is an American crime drama series that aired for two seasons on ABC from 1974 to 1976. Harry O followed the broadcast of two pilot films: Such Dust as Dreams Are Made On (airing March 11, 1973) and then the second (with noticeable retooling), Smile Jenny, You're Dead (airing February 3, 1974), both starring Janssen."

Re: Last chance I will ever have to know. 70s TV cop show moments:
There's a teaser on Youtube (about 3 minutes) that I saw of "Smile Jenny, You're Dead". But, now that you posted the link, I see that it's not listed on the Harry O page (perhaps because it's not part of the seasons 1 or 2 DVDs as the first pilot is). I had a feeling that it was an early episode of either season since it was used in the promo. I do recall seeing the 2nd pilot sometime during the initial run of the series (probably not the original showing of the pilot, though) but I'm not sure when.
Thanks for finding that, TheLauraDernBonusHole.

Its called Police Story. Watched it regularly when I was a kid. Different story and characters every week
Last chance I will ever have to know. 70s TV cop show moments:
1. 1973 0r 1974: a teenage boy takes drugs (probably LSD) and jumps off a parking garage. The camera shows this from below, and we see him falling off the building while we hear him shout "I can fly-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi" then SPLAT! in echoing slowed down sound.
2. 1974 or 1975: Another show. A different teenage boy finds a pistol and eventually kills someone with it. I think it was either by accident or because he wanted revenge on someone.
3. 1970-1973 Probably not a cop show, but maybe a spy or adventure show. The episode climaxes with a machine gun battle between two private armies among some jungle ruins.
This one is not from a cop show, either.
4. 1974-1975 An after school special, or maybe a one-shot tv movie aimed at young teens. The protagonist is a young nerd who always wears a Greek Fisherman's Cap and is always explaining what the hat is. At one point he finally gets to take the girl of his dreams out for hamburgers but he spills his soda all over her chest and then foolishly tried to dry her off with napkins, only to inadvertently paw at her boobs in front of everyone they know from school.
I hope someone will be able to help, otherwise I doubt I will ever get the answer to these mysteries that have plagued me since i was a small boy.
