Re: She: "Quite a turnout – everybody's here."

No, it wasn't Preminger's thriller GLUB. Good guess though.😃

Helpful hint: 'Lucy, I'm home.'

Must I take this one all the way to Washington? (no, not the state -- the other one .. 'D.C.')

Take 'em to Missouri

Re: She: "Quite a turnout – everybody's here."

I keep thinking of Red Skelton's quip about so many celebrities attending the funeral of the much despised Harry Cohn: "It proves what Harry always said: give the public what they want and they'll come out for it."

Re: She: "Quite a turnout – everybody's here."

I'm stuck on this one.

All the world is a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.

Doghouse - Carmen was a bit of a strange one. Did she or did she not kill Sean Reagan?

All the world is a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.

Re: Quote: …not very tall…

LM -

If I recall correctly (and if Hollywood legend is to be believed), that's the question that even Raymond Chandler couldn't answer when asked by Hawks, et al.

Poe! You are...avenged!

Lonely

He: Don't you get lonely up here by yourself?

She: I was born lonely, I guess.

All the world is a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.

Re: Lonely

Not 100% sure about this one, but it sounds like he may be Kirk Douglas, she may be Lana Turner and it may be The Bad and the Beautiful.

Poe! You are...avenged!

Re: Lonely

Not "the Bad and the Beautiful," but that is a favorite of mine.

This for lm an interesting perspective.

All the world is a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.

some more orphans .. more clues ?

Re: 2 lines of dialogue: name movie

I pulled this and the one below from a genre - and a particular studio with which it's still identified - that served as an entry point to classic films for many widdle kids like me.

A young couple given lodging for the night figures into it, as does the designation "B&B." But it ain't no bed-and-breakfast (although both are supplied).

Other AKAs: it was released in Britain as The House Of Doom, and subsequently re-released in the U.S. as The Vanishing Body.

And speaking of AKAs, its leading Lady, Jacqueline Wells, did 60-some films under that name and then another 30 or so more from '41 on as Julie Bishop.
