Angst (1983)

Possession (1981)

House on the Edge of the Park (1980)

Evil Dead Trap (1988)

Black Past (1989)

All great.

CG gore is the worst thing that has ever happened to the horror genre.

Evil Dead Trap - Iwant to say I've know about this movies since, like, 1991, and I still haven't seen it...which I'm going to change right now, since it came out on YouTube when I googled it just now.

Stage Fight

This is getting hard, I'm thinking of stuff off the top of my head, but when I go see when they came out, they're from the late '70s and early '90s.

Hex/Xie

Beautiful Teacher in Torture Hell

Turkey Shoot

Society

The Church

The Entity

Venom

Nekromamtik - So I have actually seen this one, well most of it anyways, but it didn't have subtitles. Even without the subtitles I thought it was pretty fûcking great, (in fact I'm a little worried knowing what they're saying may hurt it a bit) but it would be nice knowing what specifically was being said. Was such an easy movie to follow without subtitles I basically ended up watching the whole thing.

Re: Name ten 80's horror you have not seen but want to see…

Other than Possession and Gothic, I've seen pretty much everything that I really want to see.

There's a lot of other b movie trash that I might get around to watching at some point, but none that looks real tempting. Stuff like Prime Evil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8gbQxuXJHY&list=WL&index=89&t=3167s

Re: Name ten 80's horror you have not seen but want to see…

…just five, sorted by years of release:
1 - The Pit (1981)
2 - XTRO (1982)
3 - Manhattan Baby (1982)
4 - Invaders From Mars (1986)
5 - The Cellar (1989)
From No. 1, I haven't seen anything except some screen shots;
the same plus an old movie poster was all I've seen from No. 2;
Manhattan Baby (No. 3) is a must-have for me because I enjoyed Giovanni Frezza's performance in Una villa accanto il cimitero aka The House By The Cemetery;
I remember No. 4 from some TV broadcasts here, the dubbing was OK but I really would like to hear Hunter Carson's own voice;
and Nr. 5 seems to have an interesting plot…
Until some months ago I should have added another movie to the list which I tracked down, in the meantime:
Cameron's Closet (1989) - IMHO this is an almost perfect movie of the genre: not only the adult actors were good to excellent but Scott Curtis was just amazing :-)

Re: Name ten 80's horror you have not seen but want to see…

I love Manhattan Baby even if it doesn't really make much sense. Same director and composer behind The House By The Cemetery (Fulci & Frizzi) so there's a similar vibe. 🤘

Re: Name ten 80's horror you have not seen but want to see…

Hi Loki,
thanks for your quick reply. Now you made me really curious to watch Manhattan Baby a.s.a.p.! - You mentioned the musical score - Oh yes, it is good. Just fits to the mood of the movie, or rather, it helps to create it.
Hard to imagine that there are some B-movies which are even more chaotic / hard to understand / full of plot holes… But you might be right. I just thought about "Don't Go Near The Park" - what a wonderful, unvoluntarily funny mess that is :-)

Re: Name ten 80's horror you have not seen but want to see…

I love Fulci movies, he always goes for the eye , and his gore is disgusting and cool. Very well done. And Fabio Frizzi is just amaaaaziiiiiing with soundtracks. I agree with your statement that the score helps create the mood. It wouldn't be the same without it.

I think there's another Fulci fan on here. Pretty sure I saw some love for The Beyond shortly after I joined.

Have you seen Zombi 2? Zombie vs shark is a classic!

Re: Name ten 80's horror you have not seen but want to see…

I must admit that I'm usually not too much interested in zombie movies. Aliens, monsters, ghosts, demons, paranormal forces of any kind, satanic / voodoo rituals - I'm fine with these (as long as they stay in the movies and outside my flat…;-)
What I like to see is when a young actor (or an actress - who, for instance, could ever forget Heather O'Rourke!) has to fight against evil forces of the above mentioned sort; it's not necessary that in the end there's a sort of Disney-esque Happy Ending…
I think the "Golden Era" of that kind of movies were the 1970s and 1980s, probably the early 1990s, too; but after that time, the whole style changed a lot. Still, there ARE exceptions: "Village of The Damned" is much older (early to mid-1960s); on the other hand, "Genetic Code" aka "DNA" was filmed in, I think, 1997.
What I would like to know - where did you find these very funny emoji symbols (emoticon? don't know exactly how the little yellow things are called) - the actual set which is offered here are so uuuuglyyy, I don't like them! And they are static, that's so dull… But the moving symbols which you used seem to be the good old ones from IMDB!

Re: Name ten 80's horror you have not seen but want to see…

I mentioned that particular zombie movie because it pairs Fulci and Frizzi again, and is quite ridiculous. And gory af, which I love.

Say, have you seen Argento's Phenomena?

Oh here's a list of the imdb emoticons that Drake Straw compiled recently:

Re: Name ten 80's horror you have not seen but want to see…

Hello,
thanks for the link to the emoticons! - As to Phenomena, I have to admit that I've never heard of this one… but there's Donald Pleasence in the cast, so I should try to find a copy!
Have you seen the other movies which I mentioned (XTRO, The Cellar, Cameron's Closet, The Pit, Invaders From Mars)? I'm curious what you think about these :-)

Re: Name ten 80's horror you have not seen but want to see…

And thanks to Drake Straw for compiling!

Haven't seen those, but I can remedy that. It's one of my film goals to have watched as many horrors as possible. I often pick a year at random go through every horror released in that year (that can be gotten hold of, of course).

Re: Name ten 80's horror you have not seen but want to see…

I think there's another Fulci fan on here.

I'm a big fan of his work. The Beyond, Zombie and A Lizard in a Woman's Skin are my all time favorite Fulci films but I like everything I've ever seen by him (yes, even his late 80's and early 90's films).

Re: Name ten 80's horror you have not seen but want to see…

Fuck yes!

Don't Torture a Duckling is another that makes my fav Fulci list!

Re: Name ten 80's horror you have not seen but want to see…

Nah. Can't do it, cause there aren't ten I'd like to see.
