Maybe?

Re: Singer in "Sleuth" (1972) [PROBABLY FOREVER AN UNSOLVED MYSTERY]

A great guess and one I thought of too, but unfortunately he’s not our man. He was born 1968 and was 4 years old when Sleuth came out.

Thanks very much, though.

I didn't read the entire thread

George Melly?

Confucius

Sorry for responding so late, but I just saw this. I don’t think so… Melly’s voice doesn’t sound that close to the Sleuth singer’s to me.

Re: Singer in "Sleuth" (1972) [PROBABLY FOREVER AN UNSOLVED MYSTERY]

Surprised my account here still works, but:

At v2.0, we found a suspect who I really think was our man—Don Percival (1930-2013), a music producer who didn’t have much of a career as a singer but who sang a faux-’30s tune for Blade Runner (1982).

Compare Blade Runner

and Sleuth

I really think they sound alike, and Percival’s now my most promising lead. What say you?

It sounds like Nat King Cole to me. Maybe he made a demo they used or something.
