Teaching Mrs. Tingle : What made Jo Lynn change her mind about Leigh Ann? (Spoilers)

What made Jo Lynn change her mind about Leigh Ann? (Spoilers)

The dnouement where Jo Lynn came to the rescue was too abrupt for me to follow. What was it that convinced her that Leigh Ann didn't betray her (or that if she did, it didn't matter)? The only thing I can think of is that somehow Luke convinced her (something I don't think we have the benefit of actually seeing).

Re: What made Jo Lynn change her mind about Leigh Ann? (Spoilers)

Maybe she realized Mrs. Tingle told her that to turn Jo Lynn against Leigh Ann and she didn't want Mrs. Tingle to win and manipulate her. Even though it really happened, Jo Lynn probably realized that Luke and Jo weren't in a relationship or anything, and Luke wasn't really into Jo anyway, so although it hurt at first, she realized it wasn't worth ending their friendship over.

Perhaps she just had time to calm down and get her sh!t together. Haven't you ever been furious with someone only to realize all by yourself that it didn't really matter that much and you should just take it on the chin and get on with it?

Re: What made Jo Lynn change her mind about Leigh Ann? (Spoilers)

Aside from the fact that she probably cooled off, she also realized that Leigh and Luke did have feelings for each other, and she couldn't fault Leigh for that. On the contrary, she probably felt sorry for Leigh for holding out for as long as she did, and was grateful for how Leigh supported her even though she had feelings for the guy too. Not only that, she also realized that Leigh was behaving exactly how Jo was trying to get her to behave, to let go and have fun, go after what she wanted, stop being afraid, take chances, etc. She also probably decided that her friendship with Leigh was more important than some guy she was hung up on who obviously didn't return her feelings and who was in in love with her friend. She could have also thought that Leigh had slept with Luke back in the 10th grade before she was into him, thus figuring that Leigh never "betrayed" her, but I doubt it. Also, she probably figured that since Leigh is much more reserved and has never gone after a guy before, now that she's finally going for someone she's into for once, then Jo, being much more outgoing, should back off and support her.

first post of the new year.

good theories, but I have a theory that Jo Lynn didn't have to change her mind because it was all an act, even her feelings for Luke. she did that to try to coax Luke to try harder with Leigh Ann and at the same time, get Leigh Ann to admit her interest in Luke and open up to her feelings. on the other side, she acted like Mrs. Tingle convinced her that Leigh Ann was betraying her (which she knew she wasn't be cause there was really nothing to betray) so that Tingle would let her guard down when trying to manipulate her and so she could also convince Tingle that she could indeed act because she fooled her. the two happened to intertwine and she was able to both stealthily get Leigh Ann and Luke together while one-upping Tingle and getting her moment to shine ("Don't tell me I can't act!").
